I'm moving my parents into Independent/Assist facility in Pompano Beach. My mom needs the following:
Medication Management, Dressing when it comes to putting on her pants.
My dad needs the following: Medication Management, Bathing.
I found that a lot of these personal care program don't la cart, so your paying for assistant in things they don't need.
Is there anyone out there that can help.
Thank you,
Stella

The one in GA., where my mother is located have levels of care defined by what they need.
Medication management can run the gamut from monitoring to actual giving of the meds.  My mother facility does not just monitor, they have to disburse.  This is more expensive because the person giving out the medicines has to have more training than a caregiver and thus is paid a bit more.  By the way, they handle her RX ordering and the pharmacy has to bubble pack the individual meds according to time schedule so there is a slight extra charge for that.

I will also add that this facility is now looking to see if they could do a la carte services rather than level of care or perhaps charge for something that is only sometimes needed.  Right now there are (4) levels of care, with the lowest b adding $ 250 per month and the highest adding $ 1000 per month to the residency room rate fee

This may seem high BUT it sure beats  nursing home care.

Now my mother is in an actual facility that has both assisted living and memory care.  There are also, in GA., Personal Care Homes in residential neighborhoods that care for some lower level care elderly.  My mother needed the memory care but if FL has these PCH, you could check to see what they can and cannot do and of course, check them out real good.
