Compared to some of the topics I've been reading this is a small concern but I sure would appreciate some ideas.  My parents, 92 and 90, are still living alone in their home.  We'd like to keep it that way but we're finding that they need help with the little things of life.  For instance, the TV/Cable remote control is beyond them now.  Is there a simple remote on the market that only would have an ON/OFF, Volume and Channel Buttons?  What are your thought on the Jitterbug phone?  Is it as easy as advertised?  Dad's had several strokes and limited vision, Mom has some dementia.  Me, I'm retired and back to work full time, also raising 2 grandsons.  I can't run to their house every time they want to change the channel.  Ideas for other devices to make their lives (and mine) would be welcome

In Response to Assistive Devices: I wonder if you could call a local home health care agency and ask them? I believe there is a simple tv remote control available at WalMart that is universal to most tv's. I'm not familiar with the Jitterbug, as my mother can't see well enough to handle more than the one number speed dial on her land line phone. If she had a cell phone, she would not be able to keep up with it.  Also, see if your state has an agency for the blind. They offer a lot of good advice and services for those with limited vision. Good luck. I know it is trying.
