In Response to Re: VietNam We Still Remember !: I left the Central Highlands of Vietnam ( 1st. Cav. ) in early 1967. After 45 years, it still seems like yesterday. If you want to make a Vietnam veteran happy, sincerely tell him-or her- that you appreciate their sacrifice. All we ever asked was that. Didn't need a parade. Just a realization and thanks for our time in Hell. Hooah! Posted by lorenzo4522 THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!!! I SURELY WAS NOT ONE WHO 'SPIT ON YOU' ... IT WAS A HORRIFIC WAR AND SEEING REPORTS ABOUT IT STILL MAKES ME ANGRY. THE RESPONSE FOR YOUR SERVICE AT THAT TIME WERE TERRIBLE BUT THIS OLD WOMAN WAS NOT ONE OF THEM.........NOW WE HAVE ANOTHER PLACE IN THE WORLD WHERE WE SHOULD NOT BE ... LOSING MORE LOVED ONES AND MANY BEING MAIMED FOR LIFE. WHAT IS WITH SOME IN OUR GOVERNMENT WHO ALWAYS HAVE TO BE KNOWN AS A WAR PRESIDENT, LIKE "W" BUSH, THE BAFFOON.......THANK YOU, THANK YOU LORENZO........ |

I look at that country today and tell you - you DID make a difference. It may not have happened rapidly but does it ever - The seed was planted and the Vietnamese have made it grow. I purchased a table the other day and thought to myself, this is really great quality and lo and behold, Made in VietNam. Take a look sometimes at real nice baby and kids furniture and you will see the same. I also have a friend who did charity work in Cambodia for many many years in the 80's & 90's - it has also changed although not as great - nor is it as safe but there is a great difference in what it use to be. Nam was a very hard war - the terrain was awful, the enemy was hard to recognize - similar in some respects to the one we still have going today. Bloomberg & Businessweek: Vietnam July 05, 2012 Bloomberg on Vietnam January 2012 YOU & MY HUSBAND MADE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THESE PEOPLE. He would be proud! |

In Response to Re: VietNam We Still Remember !: Has any veteran with cancer been receiving disability benefits and then lose them because their cancer is in remission? Posted by gakatfan1 Your are talking about Social Security Disability not a disability related to your service, like Agent Orange, right? |

In Response to Re: VietNam We Still Remember !: It was on the 4th of July 1961 when I first arrived in Saigon. On 24 December 1961, I was in the wrong place at the wrong time. I was wounded and captured by the Vietcong. I was to spend ONLY six months in captivity.I Will never stop having the nightmares, let along forget that time and the time for those that came after me. Posted by powgeorge Thank you for your service is not enough to say, since you were held captive for so long, and suffered more than most in that war. You deserve honor and respect and gratitude from all the Americans you fought to protect. I truly hope you can overcome the nightmares, and enjoy your life! You certainly deserve it! Have you been able to get the help you needed? |

Posted by GailL1 No I'm talking about Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma from Agent Orange. The VA stopped my benefits because my cancer is in remission. I don't know if you can send me an email but I'm having trouble finding this forum. My email is rpatrickryan@yahoo.com. If you are knowledgeable about this subject I would appreciate your comments. |
