I was working in Washington, DC, specifically on Pennsylvania Ave NW when MLK was shot.  I lived in Maryland and couldn't get home... I had to walk across the bridge into Virginia and call my father to come and get me.  The city was on fire and the city was in chaos.  It was frightening...  took 6 hours total before I got home.  What a day.  I remember looking back as I crossed the bridge into Virginia-  you could smell the smoke and see the fire and hear the sirens.  Where were you that day and how did you hear about it?
