I think this is probably only one of many of these type of "tests", that our government and corporate America has unleashed upon the people. We live in a pretty sad world, and yet we claim to be the greatest nation and society. Man has really not evolved very much, or very well throughout time. Thanks for this post

What is really sad is that most Americans believe that government has their best interest at heart. We know better because we have access to more information (Internet!.) but I do not think the corporate media (mainstream tv) talk about it (it was a local St Louis station where people knew about it anyway. TV tries to keep credibility as ratings=cash is what matters to them most) but most Americans get their news from tv and they believe it is for their safety to be humilitated by TSA and pay them for it (TSA has found ZERO terrorists), or pay in money and lives for our government imperialism, and have their rights chipped away this is sad what has happened to the land of "brave and free". |

look at the "news" they serve us! I don't watch tv but YAHOO NEWS seems excited about hairdos and clothes of some starlets. breaking news: xxx has changed her hair color! like a long-term project: Dumbing of America.. however Internet destroyed that.... it is so wonderful when people demand their rights, their dignity. We were trampled on for so long! |

I guess maybe I am evolving into a libertarian, but I can't even imagine thinking my government loves me. I would never believe that for a second, and I would be pretty surprised if most Americans believe it. There is some degree of natural empathy that we feel for others who share the same culture. But this country is so diverse that kind of empathy is not very strong. And there is a degree of universal compassion we sometimes feel for all humans and for some of the other creatures. But tthe weak empathy we feel for complete strangers -- even if they do live in the same country -- does not outweigh our natural (and understandable) distrust of strangers. It does not cancel out our natural and understandable preferences for people similar to ourselves, and for the people we know and love personally. To the government, we are about as lovable as ants in an ant hill. And they are about that lovable to us. Come on, face it, love is personal. This country is gigantic, and culturally diverse. We don't all love each other. And our government has evolved into a bunch of crooks. If it wasn't always, it sure is now. So I am not even slightly surprised the government used citizens as lab rats. They probably are doing things at least eqally horrible now. Or they would be, if we didn't have so much access to information now. |

sad thing is that some people believe that government cares about them -... sure, we do not love each other, but most of us (I'm excluding psychopats...) would never ever hurt another person. Posted by Astra2012 I can name four people right off the bat, in GOVT that I truly believe has our very best interest at heart and have displayed it frequently. . Al Franken, Bernie Sanders, Alan Grayson, Elizabeth Warren. Other's I would have to really really think hard about. RE- the TSA......I'm always very pleased when I see they are doing their job well. We don't even KNOW how many guns, knives have been confiscated....after all our MEDIA is too busy talking about Tiger Woods and Obama playing golf and stuff like that . |
