Grannybugg, You just hit it out of the park, Homerun young lady !!! Republican Speaker Boehner and the Right Wingers believe the only seniors, disabled or Veteran's, who deserves to live with dignity are the wealthy ones. Response to What is wrong with the way we vote.: had seniors voted for Democratic candidates in 2010 we might not be facing what we are today. Seniors played their part in giving the House to Republicans. They believed Social Security was cut when it was not. And perhaps Obama would be saying some very different things politically. Granted a lot of senior voted for Democrats and Obama but not enough did. I also know a lot of white seniors on Social Security and Medicare who hate Obama because he is black. And that is the only reason they vote GOP. They also believe that Democrats give minorities too much money. Any senior paying attention should understand that the GOP has nothing to offer them. Given the power seniors would be royally toasted by Republicans. Social Security and Medicare would have been history long ago. And the GOP will never give up trying to end these "socialist" programs. Democrats have been weakened because so many voters are conservative and vote against what is best for them economically. And they do it for selfish and bigoted reasons to be honest. It is just like union workers who vote for Republicans because they like their bible, their gun or their racism more than a good paying job with benefits and job security and a pension. What you post is the absolute truth. Most seniors should not vote Republican unless they are part of the 1% who don't need Social Security or Medicare. Posted by grannybugg I completely agree with you as I've always thought the same thing. Many just hate him because he's black, even though his mother was white and he was raised with whites. They also hate the idea that he is tolerant toward others. Some seniors keep saying that he's only giving things to the black community, but I find no evidence of this as he's for the Middle Class. They love the Repubs because they pretend to be religious, but being pro-life also means providing people with universal health care and jobs. Many are comfortable with their pensions, SS and Medicare so they just assume that everyone is just as fortunate as they are. In fact, I've seen many adults voting for Republicans even when they're living in poor conditions and near poverty. I pass through rural areas on my way to DC, but am constantly amazed by the people hosting Repub signs when their businesses are closed, they live in run-down houses or trailers. I just wonder how many of them are getting welfare, Medicaid and food stamps? Yet, mention to them that Obama is a socialist out to destroy the Constitution, who protects pro-choice decisions, doesn't discriminate against gays and accepts all faiths, they become paranoid. Of course, as long as they have their Bibles and guns to spew hatred, that's their vision of being a true American.
