As a Republican, you're against Planned Parenthood, like  your members in Congress.
As a Republican, you're against contraception methods for other women, although a majority of men and women, even Catholic women are for it.
As a Republican you vote to elect Republican men, like Blunt in Mo, who introduces bills to deny insurance covered contraception for women.
As a Republican, you agree with others across the country, that government should force non-medical and non-needed regulations on women and their doctors to deny women's right to choose.
As a Republican you agree that government should deny workers rights to collective bargaining that gives them a level playing field with management. This includes teachers, police and fire unions.
As a Republican you agree that we should return to working children instead of educating them.
As a Republican you agree that voting rights of other Americans should be oppressed, especially students, seniors, and the poor!
As a Republican, like Romney, you agree that drug test should be foisted on all recipients of government funds such as food stamps, social security, veterans, , with exception, of course, o oil subsidies, farm subsidies, etc.f

My question to women primarily, but can include Republican Te-Baggermen, if you deny that you agree with these things, the WHY are you a Republican?

One of the answers is these women  are subjected to their controlling husbands,  boyfriends, fathers, and any other strong male figure in their lives.  They can or will lean to the right to either please or out of fear support these men.

I accept and agree with your answer, creppelrm, but what bothers me is that these male thugs should NOT be allowed in the voting booths, so women have a great opportunity to vote right, help to re-elect President Obama and other Democrats take back the House and give a 60 Dem majority in the Senate. This would give women the abilit to show their power to change this country for their self-interest of educating their children, improving women's health  care issues, preventing Republican efforts to destroy public education, planned parenthood, and voting rights of Americans across this country!

I'm a woman and a Republican.
What's worse nobody is controlling me.

But I happen to think that there is an illusion of difference betwen Republicans and Democrats.
Sure, Americans get some issues like abortion, gays etc (like dogs get bones to fight) but it  is just to keep them occupied and stress the schism Rep/Dem.

Some of these women are so subservient they would never do anything against their husbands will.  Look at these religions that allow multiple wives.  One man may have six or more wives and not one of those women would say anything against that mans will.

I'm sorry Astra2012, but I'm not sure what illusion you're talking about
First, most American's know that Gay people, married or not, are a small part of our population, and ONLY the Republican Party made anti-gays a part of their party platform. Thats a waste, not an illusion!

Second, data shows that abortions have declined in this country, NOT because of Republican hate rhetoric against women's health, but because women are standing up for their rights to health care, including contraception, which both men and women agree on, but is now a cause the Republicans are against, and want to make it  a religious instead of a health issue. As several polls have shown, a majority of women and men believe women should have the right for insurance coverage of contraception! Even insurance companies, that don't really care about womens health, have to admit contraception is much cheaper than all the cost of pregnancies, wanted or not!

It only appears that Republicans running for office and Catholic Bishops are against contraception rights, and maybe some
Republican women. Ironic, these Catholic Bishops weren't that concerned with their priest attacks on young boys, but only with women having insurance coverage for contaception.

Finally, assuming you care about the actions of those Republican Tea-baggers you help elect to the House in 2010, you must know, other than voting against the Democratic jobs plan, they, instead,  introduced four (4) bills against gay marriage, six (6) bills against abortions, even if it was NOT in any government law, and voted to de-fund Planned Parenthood, while voting to add billions to the deficit for tax cuts for the top 1%.

Wheres the illusion here?

Just as in the Democratic Party there are different views within the Republican Party and also the Tea Party.

You have some that are:  FISCAL CONSERVATIVES; some that are SOCIAL CONSERVATIVES and some that are both.

I chose to be a Republican because of my fiscal conservative beliefs and my views on limited government interference in our individual lives.

I could care less about who you chose to love and marry, how you manage your fertility or preganancy as long as your decision does not infringe on me or my wallet.

Actually I take it a lot further than this in the realm of personal responsibility but that is a post for another day.

A while back a man was going to work early one morning here in south Louisiana on the Causeway which is a 25 mile long bridge that crosses Lake Ponchatrain.  Nearing the halfway point, he saw a car in front of him go over the guard rails into the lake.  He pulled over and jumped into the lake saving the two people who were in the car.  This was not the first time one of these heroes have done acts of bravery such as this, some have lost their lives doing the same thing this man did on the Causeway.

There were no questions asked about the victims of these accidents, if these people were on welfare, were they drug addicts, were they gay?  With no hesitation these were selfless acts of courage for love of their fellow man.

Now imagine if you ran off this bridge and someone was behind you told himself “that person, so carelessly running in the lake is infringing on my wallet by making me late for work I really need the money for my family, I’ll just pretend not to see it.

Well that’s exactly what is happening now, Republicans are pretending not to see poverty that is increasing, they are pretending not to see hunger here in America, and they are pretending that cutting Social Security and Medicare will not hurt anyone.  With all of these people in the lake, they pretend not to see, as long as they are fat and happy.  Well, it won’t be long before it is their time in the lake.

Powerful image but metaphor is not true.
you allowed the system to put you in one (Dem.) camp. Of course criticizing the other (Rep.) camp.

Unfortunately both camps lead that once-prosperous country to bankrupcy...

Well said creppelrm, and I totally agree.  With nothing to say about what is happening to divide our country, Republicns choose to follow the money of Rove, Koch, US Chamber, etc and hide behind words like social conservatives or fiscal conservative,  thinking this gives them some legitamacy to deny womens health, fairness in paying taxes, even  attacks on American voting rights and other civil rights.

Another example, here in the Republican state of Missouri, our special interest Senator Roy Blunt, well known for his wife dropping in favour of his lobbiest girl friend, (now wife) , his total dis-dain for middle class workers, now is trying to become a Republican leader in the Senate like Mitchel, has proposed a bill to not only deny women's contraception rights, but encourages ALL businesses to take the same tact with their insurance coverage.

I don't know if this makes Ol Roy a fiscal or social conservative, but it sure sems to draw the support of women voters here in Mo, Puppy Mill Capital of the world.  Go figure!
