Who will AARP endorse for president?

I feel it is pretty evident that the Democratic presidential candidate intends to implement health care for all. And he has never even discussed or encouraging privatizing Social Security, unlike the Republican candidate. So, what will the AARP do in endorsing a preference for president? |

Personally, I haven't heard our current President put forth too much in the form of saving Social Security for future generations and I worry about what he suggest under Medicare (and the PPACA). The Disability part of the SS program is in serious shape. I encourage you to at least read the summary of the Trustee Report for this year report on the SS website. This is from the numbers guys - not affiliated with either party. This is what the Trustee Report said issued earlier this year. Here's the link: Social Security Administration: 2012 Trustee Report - Status of the Social Security and Medicare Programs A few sentences from the Report of the Actuary: "Lawmakers should not delay addressing the long-run financial challenges facing Social Security and Medicare. If they take action sooner rather than later, more options and more time will be available to phase in changes so that the public has adequate time to prepare. Earlier action will also help elected officials minimize adverse impacts on vulnerable populations, including lower-income workers and people already dependent on program benefits. . . . . the Disability Insurance (DI) program satisfies neither the long-range test nor the short-range test. DI costs have exceeded non-interest income since 2005, and the Trustees project trust fund exhaustion in 2016, two years earlier than projected last year. The DI program faces the most immediate financing shortfall of any of the separate trust funds; thus lawmakers need to act soon to avoid reduced payments to DI beneficiaries four years from now." |

I absolutely agree with you, but a few AARP members are Republican because they are rich or either very hostile individuals(such as tea party members) so AARP will not want to lose them as members, so I really don't see AARP endorsing any candidate. Thats a great question, but I wonder how much money has to play in that endorsement, sad but true. President Obama has already stated Social Security will stay strong with a few minor adjustments and he has given us the Affordable Care Act. President Obama wont privatize or let us lose S.S. His priority is to help our seniors, disabled and lower/middle class workers, who have been falling behind for 11 years now. Go to the whitehouse.gov website it explains his policies and priorities. Be careful where you get your information from, because there are alot of lies and half truths out there to serve certain agendas with all the Sheldon Adelson type of money floating around. Never would think to refer to the Whitehouse Gov website cause then they will be able to say that PRESIDENT OBAMA isn't interested in saving SS. I don't believe AARP should endorse anyone....they are not supposed to be that political......they are only supposed to support what is BEST for seniors....the still working people ......not corporations because corporations are not people I don't care what the right wing supreme court says. Corporations have an infinite lifespan and don't get sick or die when they get old. |

Paul Ryan was chosen by the Conservatives and Mitt Romney did what he was told and made him his V.P. nomination. Conservatives love Paul Ryan because he wants to end Social Security and end Midicare. The AARP isn't being poitical in endorsing Barack Obama, it is looking after the interest of people who worked their whole lives and expect Social Security and Medicare to be waiting for them. It about people who have paid into programs for their later years, only to find Republicans wanting to take their money and give it to the very rich. The Catholic Church even said that Paul Ryan's budget plan was immoral. It's great if you have your Medicare and Social Security now, but some of us actually want it in the future, and Republicans don't want it for anyone. Retirement, health care, a humane standard of living are all things they want for themselves but not for anyone else. Republicans in government are the true death panels. |

People need to get educated and not believe the spin of facts coming from the liberal main stream media. How many people have seen the film '2016'? You will be given facts about our current president using his own words, and in his own voice, from the book he wrote, 'Dreams of My Father'. It gives a great insight into how he governs and why he has made the decisions he has made. This is a must see for every American! As far as AARP is concerned, they are in Obamas pocket. They stand to make about one Billion dollars over the next 10 years as long as Obamacare remains in effect. AARP president, A. Barry Rand was questioned by congress. For any senior who wants to hear information from both sides, you might want to check out AMAC! God Bless our country! |

I would ask why did AARP ignore the overwhelming opposition among seniors, calls from their own members running 14-1 against, and emotional town hall confrontations all over the country? People seem to believe in AARP and it's seemingly Democrat policy backing when in reality they directly offer a Medicare Advantage The House Ways and Means Committee found that “The Democrats’ health care law, which AARP strongly endorsed, could result in a windfall for AARP that exceeds over $1 billion during the next 10 years.”. This doesn't even consider what AARP will net from MediGap. Sweetening the deal for AARP, the bill created a special, AARP-specific carve-out exempting its Medigap policies from the rate regulations applied to its competitors. Bottom line folks if you want our great nation to be BROKE before the 2016 election then by all means vote Obama. I for one am choosing Mitt

Mr. Molen who produced the movie Obama 2016 is as bias as one could possibly be. No surprise that he is an active member in the Mormon church and supports Romney. No of course there is not bias there at all.
