Do you really think the War on Drugs has any postivie effects? Don't we just put more people in jail, and keep the cost of drugs high by choosing to keep it illegal? Other countries choose to make it

Do you really think the War on Drugs has any postivie effects? Don't we just put more people in jail, and keep the cost of drugs high by choosing to keep it illegal? Other countries choose to make it legal, and take the money out of the game. They save lives, save money, and keep families together, while preventing a greater spread of criminal acitivity! Who is making money from the war on drugs??

Consider that it's been a  30 year war.     Our Govt has spent billions of dollars on this.    The failed effort  employs a lot of people.

But consider that the global war on drugs has failed and some believe governments should explore legalizing marijuana.     Especially, when prescription drugs have killed more people than illegal drugs.

I don't use drugs and even hate to have to use prescription drugs when I absolutely have to.     So,  I just don't understand why people are so addicted to both except for the thought that if the quality of life in the USA was better then it might be people wouldn't need drugs to get through the days.

many people profit from "war on drugs" and we pay for it...
of course it is senseless-and Ron Paul wants to end it

he's made himself some powerful enemies

There is an organization called LEAP , Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, and they are fighting to get drugs legalized in the U.S.
Before you say , that's crazy, take a look at what they have discovered:
...let us not forget the policies that tear families apart. The drug warriors have taken millions of nonviolent drug offender parents from their families for crimes no more morally offensive than those of the rum runners who managed to make ends meet during the last prohibition.

Between 1986 and 1999, the incarceration rate for women grew by 888%! From 1986 to 1996, the number of women in federal prison for drug “crimes” increased tenfold, from 2,400 to 24,000, and the number continues to increase. Many leave children behind. Today, more than 2.7 million American children have lost a parent to a prison sentence, and two thirds of those parents are nonviolent offenders.

In the name of the children, in the name of the family, the prohibitionists destroy both.
In 1980, one out of every 125 children had a parent behind bars. By 2008, that number had grown to 1 in every 28. Think of the average kindergarten class. Think of the child whose parent is missing. Connect the dots to the rest of that child’s life.
Prison is a growing business!

I'm not saying that legalization of drugs is crazy, on the contrary: prohibition is crazy.
I support Ron Paul, if you somehow do not know that (as I keep trumpeting it every time I have a chance!)

Drug legalization would make drug-dealers without profitable work, and would decrease wealth of drug lords.
American taxpayers wouldn't have to "feed" DEA and others fighting that useless war on drugs.

And Ron Paul would pardon everyone arrested for NON-VIOLENT drug crimes. Taxpayers would save, families would be brought together, many non-violent people wouldn't be "hardened" by sharing jail with violent criminals.

War on drugs is crazy!
