Top executives from Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan Chase, General Electric and other firms sat on the boards of regional Federal Reserve banks while their firms benefited from the central bank’s policies during the financial crisis, the Government Accountability Office investigation found. The dual roles created an appearance of a conflict of interest, according to the GAO. These Wall Street executives are making the rules of our nation’s monetary policy and effecting our economy. They raise and lower interest rates at the discount window which allows banks, mainly Wall Street, to borrow money at near zero percent interest rates. They pick and choose which banks get help and which banks to turn away. This is Wall Street running our government. Even though the Federal Reserve is a private bank, it creates rules and policies that affect our country. Thanks to Dodd-Frank, a law many Republicans want to repeal entirely, this information is coming to light. Once again, we are Occupying Wall Street because of this very problem. We live in a country that allows the 1% to dictate the lives of the 99% and this investigation is further proof, not to end the Fed, but get rid of the one percenters with in our government.

Hmmmm, Obama took 500 million from Wall Street...

he took GE CEO to his economy advising team...

but not all congresspeople are bought by big corp.
Sanders from VT is not.
or even our political candidates, Buddy Roemer, Jon Huntsmen or Ron Paul.

The first one has successfully been blacked out by the Republican machine belonging to 1% (btw democratic machine is theirs too) - not many people know about him (including me until few days ago) , JH is kind of quiet, they spread few stupid jokes about him and he seems to be done.

However the establishment ha some problems with Ron Paul, Its political commentators tried their old tricks (ignoring, ridiculing etc) but he still is first (OH   CA,,,)  second  (IA..) or third (NH?) IN THE STRAW POLLS.

And the more people know about his honesty and integrity the mor they want Ron Paul to lead us!

I'm not going to get in to Obama took 500 million from Wall Street or that Buddy Roemer who I know well, was elected governor of Louisiana when he was a Democrat and when he got in office turned Republican, which was a slap in the face for all who voted for him and was not elected a second term. I think the main issues are who will benefit from the Republicans agenda of tax breaks for the rich and cutting Social Security and Medicare including student aid for college bound students and the unequal distribution of wealth.  Or the Democratic agenda of taxing the rich and sustaining Social Security and Medicare that so many of our citizens depend on.  Just look at the debate going on now in Washington and if you are part of the 1%  of that rich upper class that don't want  to be taxed you may have to talk to the part of the 1% that are beginning to feel the heat and would prefer the pay their fair share.  Why don't the Republican lawmakers see this?

Because unfortunately most of people in Congress is not thinking by themselves, Democrats and Republicans! They vote usually "along party lines" what their leader tells them (and not necesserily what the people want).

Officially agenda of Democratic party seems more fair to  the American people - but let's look at the points you mentioned closer.
1. taxing the rich more.- of course it  is fair when the usa is in financial trouble!  (as much as not-taxing social security benefits proposed by REPUBLICAN  congressman Ron Paul)
BUT
we are in financial mess not because government doesn't have  enough money but because it wastes it! We keep military bases all over the world, bomb here and there and maintain bloated goverment. Bush started it with wars, Obame went deeper with bail-outs.

So wouldn't it have more sense to close our military bases , end wars and make the government SMALLER? Let the dishonest banks fall?

(that's why I support Ron Paul because he proposes  exactly that!)

the existing tax law is good for the rich, right (and officially Democrats want to introduce some ("cosmetic") changes)
besides the rich hire lawyers whose job is to find loopholes in the tax law--and in the result the rich  pay very little taxes -
or even no taxes at all!
that's really unfair--but it is the way it is: rich will always have means to outsmart IRS
Poor not.

So wouldn't it be more fair for American people not to have income tax at all? no IRS?

(Ron Paul proposes that)

(millionairs pathetically asking government to take more of their money could give it instead to needy or non-profits in  the usa)

2. susttaining social security and Medicare benefits - of course it is the most important issue for seniors and it should never be on the GOVERNMENT table
But both parties kind of "glance  gredily" on it. They both have agendas!
Look at that  (from Jan)

REPUBLICANS WANT TO START CHIPPING AWAY AT SOCIAL SECURITY AND DEMOCRATS ARE READY TO GIVE THEM A HAND.    MY HERO---BERNIE SANDERS (I-VT) TELLS ED SCHULTZ WHY THIS IS A MAJOR MISTAKE.  "

There is most misunderstanding here about Ron Paul's policy. He plans NO cuts either to SS or to Medicare - and because he cuts govrnment spending we will afford it! All the changes to it  that may/or may not (AND PEOPLE WILL CHOOSE THEMSELVES) happen in 40+ years...

He is our only candidate who cares about American people first The only problem? He can't be bought by big business  so it uses media (it owns) to stop him from winning. But they are losing.
