In Response to Small Business Layoffs Begin Just Two Days After Election–Can It Get Worse?: http://lastresistance.com/471/small-business-layoffs-begin-just-two-days-after-election-can-it-get-worse/ Posted by gymdandee Yea, just wait until all those DOD budgets cuts hit - remember there is an industry with lots of employees that service the DOD. The Congresscritters are all gonna be saying " Whoa" when those cuts start hitting their state. I also thought I saw a blip on the financial news network today talking about the coal industry starting to lay off folks. For every action, there is a reaction. |

Better take a good look at who exactly wants to cut DOD when you say DOD you are talking about the Dept. of Defense and it is Republicans want to cut to the bone in this area. Getting laid off in a coal mine probably saved that persons life. Ever hear of black lung disease well its still out there killing coal miners. That's one reaction on the plus side. Just as you said when I told of ranchers, farmers and fishermen having it rough due to Hurricanes and the Oil Spill, i think you said why don't the get another job. Yeah, our poor CEO's have it so rough in this country. Today's CEO's make 345 times more than the average blue collar worker. How can they survive ? Especially, if they have to pay 4% more in taxes, like they did during the Reagan years and Clinton years ??? Remember those fair Tax rates, when all Americans did better, but do we all matter anymore with today's Republican leadership in Congress ? I think our CEO's are right and President Obama is wrong. We should ask our already struggling seniors, disabled and Veterans to sacrifice more and do with less. Republican Majority leader Boehner would rather cut our Social Security and Medicare benefits, before he touches Tax breaks for the wealthy. That's the only fair thing to do. Response to Small Business Layoffs Begin Just Two Days After Election–Can It Get Worse? : Posted by mandm84 Yes, we should feel sorry for the CEOs who have wasted almost 400 million $$$ on campaign funds for the Republicans. Even under Obama, they've been doing very well with record profits. Wall Street needs more taxcuts and deregulations to create jobs even though they've had years of taxcuts and loopholes that have rewarded them for sending jobs overseas instead of creating jobs at home. How many trillions of $$$ have they stashed in overseas accounts to evade paying taxes? More taxcuts will definitely mean more "trickle down" economics and jobs for Americans. But the lazy and irresponsible seniors should welcome privatization of SS and Medicare as we have ample funds, like the CEOs, to pay for our care in old age. We should also welcome more involvement in foreign affairs by increasing military spending by 2 trillion $$$. Wars will really make us safer as we lay awake at night worrying about terrorism in the Middle East. Afterall, we have to keep big corporations such as Halliburton from feeling the pressures of paying their fair share of taxes.
