AARP is losing membership because they are not backing the President in his fight to save Social Security and Medicare which the Republican Congress want to cut instead of raising the taxes on the rich. Just because you are independently wealthy doesn't mean every senior is. If you call that socialism I call it Social Security and Medicare. We are a Nation because we are all in this big boat together and what happens to one happens to all. The military is a socialist organization who take care of each other in battle unlike what you call socialism what a coward would call it to get out of helping his buddy in battle. In Response to SHRINKING AARP MEMBERSHIP ( haven't checked it! ): SHRINKING AARP MEMBERSHIP IS LOSING PLENTY OF SENIORS - VERY IMPORTANT READ!! It only takes a few days on the Internet and this will have reached 75% of the public in the USA. This letter was sent to Mr. Rand, Executive Director of AARP THIS LADY NOT ONLY HAS A GRASP OF ‘THE SITUATION’ BUT AN INCREDIBLE COMMAND OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE! Dear Mr. Rand, Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. This isn’t what you were looking for, but it is the most honest response I can give you. Our coverage gap is a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith. While we have proudly maintained our membership for years and long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse its abdication of our values. Your letter stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary. But, when the opinions and long-term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy, which spawned our 200 years of government. Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP once gave us a sense of belonging, which we no longer enjoy. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama Regime and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there! We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces that we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations, which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities and values. This Obama Regime scares the living daylights out of us. Not just for us, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage. But more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don't have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist Mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities. Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? The illegal perpetrators have broken into our 'house', invaded our home without invitation or consent. The President insists we keep these illegal perpetrators in comfort and learn the perpetrator’s language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them. I DON’T choose to welcome them, to support them, to educate them, to medicate them, or to pay for their food or clothing. American home invaders get arrested. Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get? Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break and enter to be welcomed? We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current Regime. One of us is out of touch with mainstream America. Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than ones that are driven by a need to yield AMNESTY (AKA - make voters out of the foreign lawbreakers so they can vote to continue the government's free handouts). This addition of 10 to 20 million voters who then will vote to continue Socialism will OVERWHELM our votes to control the government’s free handouts. It is a "slippery slope" we must not embark on! As Margret Thatcher (former Prime Minister of Great Britain) once said "Socialism is GREAT - UNTIL you run out of other people's money.” We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage him or her to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you. I am disappointed as all getout! I am more scared than I have ever been in my entire life! I am ANGRY! I am MAD as hell, and I'm NOT gonna take it anymore! Walt & Cyndy Miller, Miller Farms Equine Transport KEEP THIS MOVING FORWARD. That message is coming from our loyal Far Right Wing, Tea Party, Obama Hater, Gymdandee, so take it for what it's worth. Check out Gymdandee's past messages and you be the judge. In my humble opinion, this is the hate filled rhetoric, that is dividing our Nation. In Response to SHRINKING AARP MEMBERSHIP ( haven't checked it! ) : Posted by creppelrm I agree that I see some people on these forums who are doing quite well despite the recession that has affected many average Americans. They seem to think that anyone who doesn't make $75,000 or more a year are irresponsible people who haven't "saved for a rainy day". Not everyone has had the opportunities for an education, so they struggle with lower wage jobs just to make ends meet. It's impossible to argue with them because they haven't been touched by hardship which results in loss of income. This idea of "freedom" by the Repubs simply means that SS and Medicare should be privatized which will benefit those at the top. Most older adults are fortunate just to work until retirement. I talked with a 63 year old woman today, at work, who is single and lost her job a few months ago. She was in the clerical field, but arthritis made it difficult for her to type, so they let her go. Now she has a condo that she bought for $95,000, but still owes $65,000 on it while the value has dropped. She's trying to collect unemployment, but looking for work hasn't been successful because of her age. On top of that, she's lost her health insurance. Try telling her that she doesn't value "freedom and choice". It's interesting that these wealthier people never mention how they survive. Either they're fortunate enough to be still working with a good salary with benefits, or getting a pension, SS and Medicare. I'm also aggravated with illegals who come here as I feel that it's not fair that they can tap into our benefits. However, many Americans speak Spanish because they feel a connection with their heritage. If an American ended up living in Germany, they would learn the language but always feel a kinship with English speaking Germans or Americans.

I too am sick and tired of those people on our forum who are insensitive and lack compassion for those who have been hit by hard times, to no fault of their own, All I hear from those well off individuals is " well that struggling senior may have worked hard, but not smart enough, so its their own fault ". What is our society turning into ? I got mine, so who cares about you. I was taught a long time ago to never look down on anyone unless you're helping them up.Response to Re: SHRINKING AARP MEMBERSHIP ( haven't checked it! ): In Response to Re: SHRINKING AARP MEMBERSHIP ( haven't checked it! ) : I agree that I see some people on these forums who are doing quite well despite the recession that has affected many average Americans. That's exactly what you Republicans plan on doing before next election so you can get votes. You are wrong about so many things......you don't really know the definition of socialism that you use every day yourself because otherwise you would grow your own food and not rely on anyone at all for anything you buy or use. . The new law--- illegal immigrants would be immune from deportation ONLY if they came to the U.S. when they were younger than 16, have been here at least five years and are not yet 30 years old. They must be attending school, have graduated from high school or earned a GED, or have been honorably discharged from the military. In addition, they must not have been convicted of a crime or pose a threat to national security or public safety The Obama ADM targeted federal contractors that hire illegal immigrants is a favorite of those who favor strong enforcement of U.S. immigration laws. However, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce sued the government in to halt the program, calling it unlawful. ( THE US CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IS RIGHT WING ) Those thousands who are coming? They are coming from third world holes in the ground and any life here would be better than what they have there. See thousands of English, Irish, French, Germans, Japanese, etc an nauseum coming here for citizenship? I'll answer that for you...".thought not " . People do not want illegals to have their healthcare paid for by the Govt' But they do work with "food" because those jobs pay nothing...and spreading diseases and parasites aren't appealing to me anyway so I would prefer to give them healthcare while they wait for legalization. GIve the fact the.USA has rid ourselves of many diseases that people from other countries have not------ Its not all about being GENEROUS to outsiders. |

I have not heard their voice in DC telling congress not to touch SS or medicare. In congress, their idea of fixing ....is to start destroying both. Ironically, congress never disagrees about sending aid to China or India who have hurt us economically.....nor subsidizing BIG OIL who doesnt' need it...congress makes sure regardless of this "fiscal cliff" they continue to have a fine-pension and healthcare .....but notice that anything to help our own American middle class or lower class bears the label at times as "communism". |
