Lilly, I agree, but the Republican leadership in Congress have become Plutocrats, caring about the wealthy first and foremost on the backs of our already struggling seniors, disabled and Veterans. The Republicans would rather see our seniors, disabled and Veterans go with less benefits than ask our wealthy go back to the Ronaold Reagan Tax rates. Talk about selfishness, we are talking about 3-5% increase in Taxes for those Americans who are doing well. I applaud the success of our Americans, who have done well for themselves, but dont ask for more on the backs of our Americans who are already struggling. The Republicans are talking about Social Security COLA cuts and cuts in Medicare, instead of asking our wealthy to share the sacrifice. Where is the fairness ? Response to Re: Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: Medicaid expense is almost the same with Medicare. But no one dare to cut Medicaid. I agree that the rich should pay more tax, to save America, but not the world. Posted by lilly1966 |

You make some valid points. I dont hate the wealthy, I just want shared sacrifice. Response to Re: Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: 1. I am not republican, and not democratic party. I am not rich. I work one full time job and one part time job. I raise this topic, just think that we should manage our country like we manage our family finance. 2. The budget struggle seems to raise to a class struggle. The rich are hated. The country seems divided. That is the last thing I like to see. 3. To solve the budget problem, we need to raise tax, including tax rate and reduce loopholes. I support that. 4. To solve the budget problem, we also need to cut cost. Here is the list of the cost: The total government spending for 2013 (all level governments) will be 6,391.6 billion. pensions is 1095.9 billions (government employee and SS payment), health care is 1138.7 billions (Medicare and Medicaid, Medicare about 55% and Medicaid about 45%), welfare is 750.1 billions, defense is 902.3 billions, education is 914.4 billions. 5. In my personal opinion, Social Security and Medicare should not be cut since people paid special tax in their life time, they deserved to get secured life in their senior years. Also, cut SS and Medicare will leave poor senior citizens seeking help from welfare and Medicaid. There is no help to cut budget here. US should not break its promise to those tax payers. They are not the rich. SS will tax only up to about $100, 000 yearly income. 6. We need welfare and Medicaid to help our low income families, and disabled citizens. But we really can save a bunch of money by eliminating the "welfare immigrants". From the beginning of this topic, my suggestion was any senior immigrants who tries to get welfare and medical help should work in US at least 10 years. That is fare for our US workers. Also, their foreign properties should count. I do have real case that a senior immigrants can get more total benefit than our low income SS earner. 7. Now Social Security age changed to 67, and also try to lift Medicare age. But SSI and Medicaid age are still 65. It is not fare for our life time workers with small savings. Thanks for reading this.
