In Response to Re: Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: In Response to Us should stop to be the world free nursing home : The above is news to me. If that is true...I agree the USA is too generous with immigration policies. Further, we don't even have enough decent jobs for our citizens born here and from my understanding we are still accepting legal-immigration who are taking the better jobs away....(.and they'll have parents) Posted by JANMB Both Republicans and Democrats are trying to push bills through Congress to allow illegal immigrants access to full Student Aid for higher education. NY Assembly speaker Sheldon Silver notes we don't have enough engineers and mathmaticians in our country. These future students (illegals) don't speak or read English. We are not only giving them money to go to college, we are paying for aids to fill out their applications. Our legal engineers are being laid off left and right. Many have not been able to find employment. Why are we as legal citizens paying to put ourselves and our children through college, help to build our communities, pay taxes, pay for our health insurance and medical treatment.. yet we have to pay for illegals to receive benefits that neither I nor my clildren receive. This blows my mind!!!!! |

The politicians get votes. We pay. Not the 1% rich, but our SS and Medicare get cut. The Medicaid increase, part paid to illegal. See this story - illegal dead in emergency room and get 2 million dollas settlement. She did not paid for the care. Her family members were not there when she need them, but get paid by New Your tax money. http://erstories.net/2009/05/two-million-dollar-settlement/ |

In Response to Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: I had a young woman from Asia rent from us as well as bringing along her 65 year old father who didn't speak a word of English. This seemed very strange to me, but I mentioned it to someone, a legal immigrant and citizen here for 40 years, who told me this happens all the time. The adult children bring their elderly parents here who can take the citizenship test in their own language after a year, then qualify for all our benefits. I couldn't believe this as it's totaly unfair. In fact, 2 parents can add to the family income with benefits. It's very vague and confusing because it's never mentioned in the media. This angers me as my mother lived 8 years in a nursing home. We had to sell her home to cover the first 3 years, then file for Medicaid after she had nothing left. I have a friend who is age 65 and has lived in a nursing home for 4 years. After her mother died in 2000, she lived alone in the family home. It was a struggle for her as she is disabled and hadn't worked for years. She had no health insurance, SS disability or food stamps because she was told that she had savings and the home was partly in her name. She struggled for years until she fell and entered a nursing home in 2008. Yet, she knew relatives from Poland who came here owning nothing, but able to access health care and benefits. We can barely take care of our seniors here, so why should illegals and legals on visas get benefits when they haven't contributed anything to our country?

In Response to Re: Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: Posted by intersan It seems you had better take this up with your Congressman and Senator if you disagree with the process. April 2012: Dept of Homeland Security - U.S. Legal Permanent Residents: 2011 "A legal permanent resident (LPR) or “green card” recipient is defined by immigration law as a person who has been granted lawful permanent residence in the United States." "Immediate Relatives of U.S. Citizens Some LPR admission categories are exempt from the annual numeric limits for preference and diversity immigration. The largest category numerically is immediate relatives (spouses and children, including orphans adopted abroad, of U.S. citizens and parents of adult U.S. citizens aged 21 and over). Immediate relatives of U.S. citizens typically account for more than 40 percent of the annual LPR flow. New LPRs in the immediate relatives and family- sponsored preference categories of admission are collectively referred to as family-sponsored immigrants." . . . . Eligibility for Naturalization Most legal permanent residents who are at least 18 years of age are eligible to apply for citizenship after meeting certain requirements. These requirements generally include 5 years of lawful permanent residency in the United States or 3 years for those married to a United States citizen and successful completion of English language, civics, and history tests. Legal immigrant children under 18 years of age may automatically acquire citizenship when a parent naturalizes" There is lots of data in this (6) page report if you care to look at it. To become citizens there is more to it than just residency - also described in the report: "Eligibility for Naturalization Most legal permanent residents who are at least 18 years of age are eligible to apply for citizenship after meeting certain requirements. These requirements generally include 5 years of lawful permanent residency in the United States or 3 years for those married to a United States citizen and successful completion of English language, civics, and history tests." Once you are a citizen, you are afforded the rights and benefits of this privilege as the law indicates. It is our government, our elected representative that have made these laws - (both parties). We are a humane nation - all of us - It seems to me that we as all types of citizens, ALL of us, should change our way of planning for our future and not rely on the government to provide for us. You can see the data on these "parents" coming into the country and they represent but a very small portion and many of them are not taking the benefits that we have designated for the poor, so the numbers get smaller. Now you also have those older people who have come here from other places under the asylum stipulation - Would you deny them access to our country and some of it's protective benefits? I don't know I'm asking. Medicaid for Long Term Care will be changing under Obamacare with more home /. community help with nursing home residency only being available as health makes it a place of last resorts. |
