In Response to Re: Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: The parent immigrants should show their own income before to get the admission. Since their sponsor's income will not count after five years and it is too easy for them to apply welfare. The money they get will not be from the rich 1% Americans. It hurts our retirees and poor people. The Midicare and Midicaid receivers and social security receivers. Posted by lilly1966 ALWAYS the retirees have to pay the price. Since we are supposed to have our representatives in Congress they should do something about that but they will not--not want to lose some votes... that is why the only -fair to Americans- way to deal with things like that is what Ron Paul proposes: NO WARFARE AND NO WELFARE because this country is almost broke! |

Not all politicians want to cut Social Security and Medicare. The President and many Democrat, Independent and some Republicans want to make minor adjustments to preserve both, but the Right Wing Republicans want to end Medicare as we know it and privatize Social Security. If you rely on Medicare and Social Security to stay above the poverty level, do your research on the candidates. You can go to Whitehouse.gov to see where President Obama and V.P. Biden stand on this issue. Romney and Ryan have already said they will cut $200 billion from Medicare next year in their budget for 2013, if elected and then turn Medicare into a voucher system. They also want to privatize Social Security. Good luck.Response to Re: Us should stop to be the world free nursing home: Our retirees paid a lot. For example, I and my employer paid $250,000 for my SS and Medicare so far . I understand that the SS and Medicare is near broke. All politicians want to cut SS and Medicare, but no one want to stop the free riders. New health bill increases the Medicaid pay but cut Medicare pay. Think about guaranteed 3 millions receivers (parent immigrants) for SSI, house assistant and Medicaid. They have income and properties at their native country, and never paid any tax here. We need to stop it. AARP should do something.

Medicare and Medicaid are different funding, but always be mentioned together. See the link below: http://www.kaiserhealthnews.org/daily-reports/2012/february/14/obama-budget-plan.aspx We need Medicare that we paid specially for it on our life time work. We need Medicaid for our low income workers and poor kids and elders. But since we are almost broke, we have no way to help the free riders. The only one immigrant parent who did not get SSI and Medicaid, worked as an assistant in a senior apartment. She told me that a lot of immigrant parents who lived there with tax money are not poor at all. Their kids drove expensive cars, they have expensive houses back to native country, and they got free benefit from US tax payers. We need to count the immigrant sponsor's income when they apply for welfare, or they can work and earn their Medicare and SS retirement, not the free tax money. |

New york city is after 12,000+ sponsors of legal immigrants who end up on certain kinds of public assistance, and the city intends to make the sponsors pay back money to the government. |
