Poverty was actually decreasing under Clinton.    THEN AFTER -- IT JUST KEPT ON INCREASING
Last year, “nearly half of the households seeking emergency food assistance reported having to choose between paying for utilities or heating fuel and food. Nearly 40 percent said they had to choose between
paying for rent or a mortgage and food.”
The Census Bureau, which published the poverty data two weeks ago, produced the analysis of those with somewhat higher income at the request of The New York Times. The size of the near-poor population took even the bureau’s number crunchers by surprise

it is not because of GOP votes that we are in such a bad shape! There is a global crisis and of course the root of all evil is THE LOVE OF MONEY - in other word-GREED.
Republicans, Democrats, doesn't matter. Obama got 500 mln for his campaign from Wall Street.
Everyone seems to be either bought or ridiculed (like Ron Paul who refuses to be bought).

And it is all getting worse (I mean poverty), and the establishment just doesn't care. And the voters are confused and brainwashed by the media --and believe that business as usual (under Obama, or Romney, or Gingrich...) will change ANYTHING.

Nothing will change under OBAMA  unless the GOP changes THEIR policies.

Let's REVIEW  here ---

The Bush tax cuts didn't just produce fewer jobs than advertised    . They didn't produce any private sector jobs at all.     The whole experiment in handing over money to the wealthiest people was a colossal -- empirically verifiable -- failure.     YET  even TODAY DEC 1st  ---republcians don't want to PUNISH the rich by making them pay their fair share
Senate Republicans and Chamber of Commerce beat back an effort by Democrats to end tax breaks for companies who send jobs offshore only to import products back into the United States.    (Sept 2010 )

The republicans are all for transferring tax payer money,( into regulated or not regulated,) corporate structures with CEO's and top management,     enriching their own wealth,  while doling out, less in services,  to Americans who rely on it.

Corporations that are turning over these huge profits can own everything: the media, the universities, the mines, the weapons industry, insurance hospitals, drug companies, non-governmental organisations. They can buy judges, journalists, politicians, publishing houses, television stations, bookshops and even activists.     This kind of monopoly, this cross-ownership of businesses, has to stop.

The whole privatisation of health and education, of natural resources and essential infrastructure – all of this is so twisted and so antithetical to anything that would place the interests of human beings or the environment at the center of what ought to be a WE THE PEOPLE's  concern – should stop.      The amassing of unfettered wealth of individuals and corporations should stop.     The inheritance of rich people's wealth by their children should have a  tax on it ...as unearned income.      The expropriators should have their wealth expropriated and redistributed.....but of course that can't happen but we can make it more fair for us all in this bountiful country.  . All we need is for the ENTIRE 99% to get on board with it.....we would have the numbers....

Why would the rich got PUNISHED? Like Bill Gates thanks to whom we have this conversation (even though I'm in Pa and you are probably somewhere else)?
Besides, I think they are pathetic spectacularly "begging" government to take their money---there are many non-profits they could QUIETLY support.

Bad Republicans, good Democrats fighting for scraps for us. Maybe they will win and those companies will pay more money to government who then will bail-out their friends-bankes.

Hurray for Democrats and Obama!

i agree with you that:

The difference is however that you seem to believe any significant change is possible under Obama while I call for revolutionary changes under Ron Paul as president. he defends constitution of WE THE PEOPLE
HE WANTS PEOPLE TO KEEP THEIR MONEY, NOT TO GIVE IT TO GOVERNMENT.

he is bright as our founding fathers were. I really think he will make this country prosperous again!
