In Response to Re: Republicans Will Try To Cut Our Social Security and Medicare Benefits Next: I read the ATTEMPTED SCARE TACTICS used by the posters regarding Social Security and Medicare. The far left has tried this before showing Paul Ryan pushing Granny over the Medicare Cliff in a paid TV ad. Don't these folks know that both the fiscally failed Social Security and Medicare Programs need to be fixed? Where are their erroneous sources of information coming from AND where are the TRUE FACTS and TRUTH about the over $ 41 TRILLION DOLLARS IN UNFUNDED LIABILITIES OF MEDICARE, MEDICAID AND SOCIAL SECURITY? What are the Comprehensive Obama Plans to save Medicare and Social Security? Why doesn't Obama talk about it. Paul Ryan and Ron Wyden had a BIPARTISAN PLAN to save Medicare and this would have been an ideal starting point for OBAMA to show leadership and seize the moment to save Medicare which will go broke between 2016 and 2024. Posted by GoodTimeCharlie NONSENSE AGAIN !!! Ron Wyden backed out of that so-called bi-partisan plan cause it was rot-gut. This country can AFFORD ANYTHING IT PRIORITIZES and there is no need for a deficit ......the republicans helped to create a deficit in order to privitize everything to benefit WALL STREET and not just we-the-people. While creating the deficit GW BUSH went out around the country to sell privatizing S S. HE quit after the stock market crashed. We are turning out more poor people because of the inequality of the distribution of income in this country.. our population cannot withstand technology-automation taking jobs away forever and yet getting rid of PLANNED PARENTHOOD and birth control. WE are turning out more poor young people because the elderly are now required to work longer with their supplmental income near ZERO with interest rates so low and take jobs away from the young. We are now collecting LESS for SS and Medicare than we need cause the rich don't like to pay taxes and people like yourself are helping them reach this goal. The fact and truth of it all is that MEDICARE and SOC SECURITY have not been a FAVORITE of the right wing since their inceptions. The republicans stand for those who don't NEED social benefits because they never have been underpaid or have inherited their fortunes. They don't CARE how other people survive they just like cheap help and resent any benefits they have to provide. Collecting less taxes than we need is the choice American's make when they don't want to pay taxes..... but want the government to solve an oil spill problem. or they may not want people to suffer but prefer that ....instead of not to be inconvenienced by paying more taxes. |

Jan, I agree and today's CEO's should stick to trying to run their companies, not OUR Government. Did you notice how the average CEO salary and compensation packages keep rising, even when OUR economy and jobs decline ??? Funny how that works huh ??? So much for shared sacrifices. Response to Re: Republicans Will Try To Cut Our Social Security and Medicare Benefits Next: In Response to Re: Republicans Will Try To Cut Our Social Security and Medicare Benefits Next : NONSENSE !!! In general, social welfare programs DID account for a small amount of the national budget. AFDC [the program prior to TANF] says these programs were less than 1% of the federal budget and, on average, no more than 2% of each state's fund. That's NOTHING compared to the CORPORATE WELFARE and WELFARE to the individual-rich who are the real takers in our society. After 2001 however, CBS did a program on the homeless when the country slowly slid into recession. American families had been falling out of the middle class in record numbers. The combination of lost jobs and millions of foreclosures meant a lot of folks are still homeless and hungry for the first time in their lives. When Congress decides on the 2013 budget, will they decide to save lives, or will they let millions of people die of preventable causes because of devastating budget cuts? America's fiscal problems are a direct result of the Billionaire Class working behind the scenes of our democracy and syphoning off massive amounts of wealth for themselves while paying lower taxes than they've paid in a half-century. Poverty isn't because of a lack of character ...its a lack of money due to a lack of opportunity due to a lack of investment . Posted by JANMB |

I stand corrected according to the Non - Patrisan " Center on Budget and Policy Priorities ", A total of 91 % of our entire Entitlement Budget goes to our beloved seniors, disabled and low income working families, so 9% goes to welfare recipients who may actually be able bodied people taking advantage of the Welfare System. The Right Wing Republicans in Congress keep blaming and leading us to believe that this 9% group of welfare recipients is greatly responsible for our " Entitlement " spending and deficit, because this 9% doesn't work and pay Taxes, but they are only 9% of the total pie. Our beloved seniors, disabled and working families have worked paying their Taxes and have earned their Social Security and Medicare. So who is mostly responsible for this growing deficit ? Is it Smoke and Mirrors from the Right Wing to hide the cost of Two Wars, Corporate Welfare with No- Bid Govt. Contracts, Corporate outsourcing of our jobs, hidden CEO profits in overseas accounts and the $4 Trillion lost in Tax Revenue from the Bush Tax breaks for the wealthy. Not to mention CEO pay that's 350 times more than the average worker today, but was only 35 times as much in 1980 ??? Doesnt the truth matter anymore or do we let Faux ( Fox ) News keep leading us like blind sheep with their Billionaire Corporate agenda, that intentionally divides 99% of Americans against each other ?Response to Re: Republicans Will Try To Cut Our Social Security and Medicare Benefits Next: cdecee, I agree that able bodied people on Welfare should not be allowed to steal from OUR budget and there is a mandatory back to work program already in place for them, but the welfare crooks only comprise less than 7% of the entitlement budget. If you get your news from Fox, Stop listening only to Fox News, because they spread more falsehoods than truths. Fox was sued for intentionally spreading lies and the court acknowledged that, but said its up to the viewers to find the truth, so Fox continues their Right Wing agenda full of anti Democrat falsehoods. President Obama and V.P. Biden have both promised to preserve and protect Social Security and Medicare and the Republicans say we cant afford it and want to cut our benefits, so If you need Social Security with a reasonable COLA and Medicare with reasonable co pays, you might want to rethink which party is in your corner. lschlueter, There has been many positive accomplishments during the past 4 years and what questions are you looking for answers to ?Response to Re: Republicans Will Try To Cut Our Social Security and Medicare Benefits Next: Typical response from so many lacking in ability to provide answers . . . and you can always tell the liberal responses . . . how you may ask? . . . it is the never ending blaming of others . . . however, I guess you need to talk about others when you have no positive accomplishments of you own. What a sad bunch!!!
