i do not have any gun and have no intention of getting it. Once I even believed only cops and military needed to be armed. WRONG! Second amendmemd is here for a reason---protecting yourself and your family against PEOPLE-even if these people are police in the police state.Josh Tolley talks about it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrH0jVwJbdQ |

Astra, the focus is to remove Assault Rifles that hold high capacity of bullets. In my opinion there is no need for our civilians to be walking around with AR-15 Rifles that carry 30 rounds of ammunition. Its common sense. This type of weapon is not needed for hunting deer or target shooting or self defense. There are enough other firearms Americans can carry or have at home to protect themselves. If you cant defend your home with a 12 gauge shotgun, or protect yourself on the street with a 9mm handgun, then maybe you shouldn't be handling any firearm. It was an AR-15 Assault type weapon holding 30 rounds that was used in recent mass shootings. Our Law Enforcement officials dont want civilians in possession of these Assault Rifles either and that should be enough to convince those of us with common sense. Before the rhetoric starts, President Obama is not going to take all our guns away from us, just the ones better left in the hands of law enforcement.Response to PROTECT YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT: i do not have any gun and have no intention of getting it. I agree its a huge issue, but lets start with common sense and stop allowing high capacity assault weapons from being sold. We cant just sit here and say its hopeless . We must stop the supply of future assault weapon availability. Who besides our Law Enforcement and Military needs an AR-15 Assault Rifle with a 30-50 round magazine and the ability to attach another 30-50 round clip in 2 seconds ? If our police can patrol our streets in harms way, carrying a 9 mm handgun that carries 10-15 rounds of ammo., then shouldn't that tell us we dont need Assault Rifles to feel safe ??? I dont think 50 Taliban terrorists are going to storm your living room.Response to Re: PROTECT YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT: When our founding fathers wrote the constitution, could they have imagined the level of violence facing our nation today? Should we all be packing a weapon just like we all carry a cell phone? Is stricter regulation really the answer? Do you believe that a ban on assault rifles, or any automatic weapon will really stop these weapons from existing? And do you think a person like Lanza would even care, as he knew he was going to die anyway? Has technology rendered the 2nd Amendment to the US Constitution obsolete? The NRA uses the 2nd Amendment to abuse irrational fear and make a man believe he can be made invulnerable. As though this state of mind can ever really exist. The gun manufacturers, through its proxy organization of the NRA, exploits that fear with impunity by selling assault rifles with high capacity clips. The end result are mass murders of what was visited upon Newtown, CT. Man, is mans own worst enemy. Self discipline is a means of self regulation. Until man evolves to a higher level, where respect for humanity becomes the highest priority, there will be no end to violence. I believe in the 2nd Amendment, but sometimes question its validity in today's world.

In Response to Re: PROTECT YOUR SECOND AMENDMENT: The recent shooting of 4 firemen in Webster, N.Y. involved the same Assault Rifle used in Newtown, Conn. How many mass murders have to be committed, before we ban these weapons of mass destruction on our streets. Again, no civilian needs an Assault Rifle that holds 30-100 rounds of ammo. to protect themselves, hunt or target shoot. Come on America, lets be realistic about saving lives. Posted by mandm84 Seems we have a bigger problem with criminals and those with (violent tendency) mental illness getting hold of weapons even in states with extremely strict gun possession laws. You don't hear of law abiding citizens committing these types of atrocities. It is deranged individuals that pull the trigger; guns of any type don't operate without a human attached to it. Look at the city of Chicago - 500 murders this year alone and few of these were with semi- or automatics. |

I'd rather contend with a killer with a 6 shot revolver, than a 50 round Assault Weapon. With these waepons there is always the potential of MASS Murder. We have to start with this common sense approach. Our Law Enforcement and Military are the only ones who can justify having these weapons, especially after what happened to those little Angels in Newtown, Conn. Some of those precious little ones were shot 11 times each. A murderer with an Assault Weapon that holds 30-100 bullets, turns into a Mass Murderer. Enough is enough. Yes Mandm84, A criminal with an assault rifle out guns the ordinary policeman. For this reason alone assault rifles should be outlawed. If we continue this trend the next thing the NRA will be wanting to protect is citizens right to own Rocket Propelled Grenades since the criminals are outgunning the ordinary citizen. This gun fear is running through our country like the plague and being fueled by ignorance. It won"t stop until a large number of our citizens are consumed by it. As is said "You live by the Sword you die by the Sword. In Response to Re: PROTECT YOUR rSECOND AMENDMENT: I'd rather contend with a killer with a 6 shot revolver, than a 50 round Assault Weapon. I'm not against handguns as I believe that they're necessary for protection in high-crime areas or along the borders. No doubt, handguns have protected people against intruders and would-be murderers. |
