VOTE THE PARTY and the policies that support the working people, the needy, , seniors, disabled, veterans and women's rights. . Obama is only one democrat. Congress has authority over financial and budgetary policy through the enumerated power to lay and collect taxes, duties, imposts and excises, to pay the debts and provide for the common defense and general welfare of the United States . Congress has an important role in national defense, including the exclusive power to declare war, to raise and maintain the armed forces, and to make rules for the military. No one part of government dominates the other. The Constitution provides checks and balances among the three branches of the federal government. Its authors our founders expected the greater power to lie with Congress.

In Response to Why President Obama deserves a second term and why he will win: Much has been said and written about how many voters are saying that President Obama does not deserve a second term and many are expressing frustration with his leadership. While I agree that things have not turned around fast enough and there is much more that needs to be done, what is the alternative? Since taking office nearly three years ago, President Obama has a solid list of accomplishments. Those are good for any incumbent and many previous presidents have been elected to second terms with far less accomplishments (GWB for one). Here are some of them: Obama has passed the first major health care reform legislation and program since the passage of Medicare and Medicaid in 1965. Although far from perfect and not yet completely in effect, this is a major accomplishment. He has successfully ended the war in Iraq and is bringing our troops back home from there. He has a plan and a timetable to wind down the war in Afghanistan and has the Taliban on the run. He has crippled Al Queida to the point of becoming inefective and Osama bin Laden. has been killed. He has passed a major stimulus bill that according to many leading economists has prevented unemployment from reaching more than 10%. He has proposed a major jobs bill that promises to put many people back to work and improve the nation's crumbling infrastructure. He has instituted greater transparency in government. He has begun to address the deficit and problem with the national debt with a balanced approach involving increased revenue and spending cuts. He has seen major reform of Wall Street with the passage of the Dodd - Frank bill and the establishment of a Consumer Finaicial Protection Agency. He has restored the United States standing with foreign nations and has reached out to the Islamic nations as well. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009, becoming the first sitting president to win that honor since Woodrow Wilson in 1919 (the only other sitting president to be so honored was Theodore Roosevelt in 1905). He has prevented the domestic auto industry from going belly up and saving thousands of American jobs at GM and Chrysler whilemaking sure that they remain American run auto companies. What makes even these accomplishments look better is that the Republican party has done everything in their power to stifle and obstruct whatever the president has proposed. The health care reform act and stimulus bill received no Republican votes. The Republicans in congress almost brought this country to the brink of default and almost brought another government shut down. How many other presidents have faced an opposition party where one of their leaders said their major priority was to make sure that the president was a one term president? I am sure that there are other accomplishments as well as major disappointments since Obama took office in January 2009. But when one considers where the country was in January 2009 and what we were facing back then, a lot has been accomplished. When one considers the alternative, even from 2009; things have turned around. Could any of the Republican candidates who want Obama's job have done any better? Could any of them do better over the next four years running this country? IMHO when I consider the accomplishments of the president so far and the overall weakness of the field arrayed to oppose him in 2012; President Obama should win in a landslide. But it will not be a landslide because too many voters wouldn't vote for Obama even if he could raise the dead and walk on water. I can show articles and polls from 1935 showing people disaffected with FDR's performance as president as well as many opponents arrayed against him that make the present crop of opponents pale by comparison. I can also show similar polls and articles from 1971 showing Richard Nixon was in trouble and did not deserve to be re-elected. I can show similar articles and polls from 1983 showing that Ronald Reagan was in trouble and many felt that he did not deserve a second term. But in 1936, FDR won re-election in a landslide. In 1972, Nixon won in another landslide and Reagan won in a landslide in 1984. Once the voters compare President Obama to the alternative, it is like comparing a Mercedes Benz with a Yugo or a diesel locomotive with a tricycle. Posted by golfinsailor What you said is correct as far as tradition is concerned but the Obama nor anyone with their name in as candidates should not be elected because they are all unconstitutional. Read the Amendment 12 where it states directly or indirectly and Article 6 say "any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding" therewfore every city and state elections should follow suit. 1) Every candidates is to be "Politically Drafted" [chosen] by the Electors (Amendment 24) the people of each state's congressional districts elects eliminating their naming themselves as candidates, that's how they are bought, along with the other 2 constitution violations in electing them. 2) Because each state drafts and elect a president and vice on distinct ballots there are not to be parties. 3) Because the each state certifies their election's results to congress for recounting it becomes their responsibility to notify every residence of the possible 51 [DC should be included due to citizens numbers according to amendment 14] for November's election which eliminates campaigning, campaign contributions, conventions nor Electoral College. The following is how it's supposed to work according to the reading of Amendment 24. All citizens are to vote in the primary and November's general election before they elect the Electors which means the electors are the people who seek the candidates for the next election, it should begin immediately after November's general in order to give the people time to interview them to see if their platform is to prefect the Constitution's Preamble using the Articles and Amendments to achieve it. Because of that, everyone in legislation and administration should not be in office nor should they receive any retirement benefits because they failed to protect the constitution. Had they kept their oath this nation would not be in this condition, therefore, I have an online petition to eliminate them all without retirement benefits. [I named myself in it, however, for Obama to appoint me it will be Drafting me in accord with the constitution's requirement.] Acording to Article 2, section 3, the president has the responsibility to "shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed" therefore Obama should do what it require of him. |

In Response to Re: Why President Obama deserves a second term and why he will win: Only Ron Paul can get us from this mess, but he can't be bought---so the media do their best to stop him from winning. He would be the President FOR the people (YOU TOO) and not for the party or the special intterests! Posted by Astra2012 Ron Paul would be a disaster for the country, especially if his economic beliefs are allowed to become the economic policy for the nation. Here is what Nobel laureate and PhD in Economics, Paul Krugman has said about Paul's economic beliefs in a recent column: Mr. Paul identifies himself as a believer in “Austrian” economics — a doctrine that it goes without saying rejects John Maynard Keynes but is almost equally vehement in rejecting the ideas of Milton Friedman. For Austrians see “fiat money,” money that is just printed without being backed by gold, as the root of all economic evil, which means that they fiercely oppose the kind of monetary expansion Friedman claimed could have prevented the Great Depression — and which was actually carried out by Ben Bernanke this time around.

I see the argument is only about Fed and "printing money"to bail out (some) banks, right? you do not question his other policies- like ending wars, closing military bases, smaller government, -right? Since I also do not have PhD in economy (only in micobiology) and no Nobel Prize (still waiting) I do not understand from this text why Paul's economic policies (fiscal responsibility, gold standard, no bail-outs of falling banks) might be disasterous. i see no connection to Great Depression.if you do-please explain. here Ron Paul explains his monetary policy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ts88VORUYKo the way I see it Paul Krugman: says he knows economy schools and believes in other school(Keynes) than Ron Paul does (Austrian) - of course this is his right. However I am sure you can find economy PhD, Nobel lauerate who thinks the Austrian school is correct but i still do not see the connection to disaster! i hope Paul Krugman has better reasons than igniting fear in people---because all "I" see in Ron Paul is a honest man who would be the president FOR THE PEOPLE and who wants this country to be PROSPEROUS! True, he is only MD-but economy is his PASSION and he predicted this economic crisis several years before! Where was Mr. Krugman then? in the library? Theory doesn't always translate well to practice...Too many variables... |
