supply and demand stay the same. Could it be that the dollar is losing value? EXACTLY. Everything around gets more expensive because Federal Reserve keeps on printing money. more of something--less value it has but we bailed out banks, even European.and GMC which later opened plants in China! And we should better not protest because Obama signed (and Romney said he WOULD sign) the NDAA-indefinite detention authorization act)- which mean that military may indefinitely detain American citizens without trial or even charges... the new reality has been developing for years and we agree to it. |

I posted somewhere on this board about the increases in my BC/BS Medicare HMO. While the premiums haven't gone up, the copays for PCP and specialists have increased by 50% and my out of pocket has doubled. Another example of the Medicare lies-no the $519B taken away from Medicare will not effect any Medicare benficiaries. I was also informed that many physicians have droppoed out of the plan. In Response to OMG NEW REALITY CAME IN MAIL TODAY: Our first taste of the new reality arrived today in the form of our Medicare Advantage Annual Notice of Changes for 2013. We are in shock. I guess I didn't believe all the warnings. This is only the beginning folks. The chart below doesn't even include the Medicare Premium which is deducted from our Social Security each month. This insurance company has always been fair and never have we received increases such as these. 2012 2013 Monthly premium $39.80 $62.00 Max out of pocket $3,400.00 $6,700.00 Specialists Visit $25.00 $35.00 In Hospital Stays 425/yr 650/stay Ambulance $100.00 $200.00 Emergency room $50.00 $65.00 CatScan $50.00 $100.00 Posted by mollyj42 Wellcare sent me my new rates. My premiums are still ZERO ( I'm on a special plan saving me $800 on Part B ) My out of pocket was $5000 in 2012 and now is $3400 in 2013 Hospital/ medical co-pays are only for around the first days---you pay zero beyond that number. Inpatient Services was $125 co pay in 2012 and now is $100 in 2013 Mental health was $125 copay in 2012 and now is $100 in 2013 Outpatient was $125 in 2012 and now is $100 in 2013 Hearing--- stayed the same $350max benefit Vision was not covered in 2012 and now in 2013 we are covered for $100 Primary Doctors ZERO pay (same as last year) Specialists $25 co-pay ( Same as last year ) I get FREE all of the following --- mamograms, GYN exams, lab tests, xrays, colonoscopies. My drugs stayed the same price ZERO for Tier One......but seniors experiencing the donut hole in the past will see a NICE change.of savings. My daughter who is 47......had a $2000 deductible but now is not subject to pre-existing conditions and NOT paying premiums higher than men do for the same insurance and many other good features. Women have especially gained from Obamacare. |

Women have really gotten a boast from Obamacare. Posted by JANMB Glad to hear everyone is not experiencing these raises in costs. Do you have any trouble finding doctors or have you noticed any difference in services. We will be looking for a new company between now and January. Sadly I like the carrier we now have and have had no problems with them before. This increase is very unusual. I read a previous post you entered about your son. Hope you have had success getting him on the transplant list. We are all at the mercy those whole rule at times like this. We just have to implore upon the ones who rule them. My prayers are with you. |

Hi Molly. I have to wait until OCT 1 to find out the total extent of all the damages. I've spoken to seniors in other plans and they've also gotten increases. This would be my third year in the Empire BC/BS plan. Last year PCP visits actually went down, but they've more than made up with the increase. Silver Sneakers was not mentioned...yet. I'm worried about whether any of my docs have dropped out. Response to Re: OMG NEW REALITY CAME IN MAIL TODAY : Posted by Labrat64 Our plan has stayed very affordable until now. We will have to pay them a visit though to see what else they have to offer. The thing that bothers me the most is the inpatient hosp. Co pay of $650. Per stay whereas last year it was $450. Per year. As we get older, we never know was is in our future. |
