[QUOTE]I am cheering on most  of the groups.  They're telling it like it is! No authority has moved against Wall Street - are they too big or important to go after? Wall Street and major companies are to blame for most of the mess and they go scott-free, with bonuses yet!

Wall Street wrecked the economy three years ago, and nobody's been held responsible for that. Not a single person has been indicted or convicted, for destroying twenty percent of our national net worth, accumulated over two centuries. People are  upset about the fact that Wall Street has iron control over the economic policies of this country, and that one party is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wall Street, and the other party caters to them as well.   We should  NOT have 24 million people in this country who can't find a full-time job; that we should NOT have 50 million people who can't see a doctor when they're sick; that we should NOT have 47 million people of this country who need government help to feed themselves; and that we should NOT have 15 million families who owe more on their mortgage than the value of home,     WHO IS SPEAKING FOR THESE PEOPLE ?????     I  WILL .

I participated in the St. Louis OWS protest.  The purpose seems to have been achieved all over the USA, high profile the 99% who are slipping in income (as we have for 30 years), and the 1% who have never had such low share of participating in the financial/taxes in 40 years, since Reagan era (and he raised taxes 11 times), unfunded wars and unfunded mandates. ie. Medicare Part D,  And the decline in the middle class?  Haven't you readers felt it?

40% of the wealth of the nation has accumulated to us folks over 65 since we came up with company defined  pensions, government pensions, paid health insurance at our workplace and now the government pensions and socialized single payer health care (AKA Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid) that we all enjoy, no?

50 M with no health insurance, 14 M unemployed, in FL 1 out of 4 children in proverty, roads and bridges falling down ("London Bridge is Falling Down" we used to sing.) and the downgrade of USA's credit for the first time in  history due to political gridlock.

No doubt about why young and old should be on the front lines with OWS!  And this spring, on to Washington DC.

Some say they don't know what the OCCUPY wants.    Since words spoken are so easily forgotten,  I think the signs that are printed up and carried around are a good idea.     Anyone who can read will figure out what people all over this country and now globally are so angry about.    It would be easy if there was only one-thing,  but there are so many things that are plain wrong.      When RYAN came out with his republicanized   budget that would have given more tax breaks to the richest and said to the rest of us  who are the  99%  that we need to do the sacrificing for the mistakes of WALL STREET. ....maybe that was  "the last straw that broke the camel's back"

This country is on a downward trend. We are sending jobs to China and changing their way of life at the expense of fellow Americans. India is also becoming richer at our expense. We have to penalize American companies that send jobs overseas. I know many College grads that spent a fortune on their educations and can not find a job. We are becoming a third class nation. It is time for all of us to stand up and defend our country against the corporations, wall street and our own politicans. They seem to be out for their own good, not ours. The middle class is being eroded. The middle class is less than it was 20 years ago. What does it take for us as citizens of a great country to stand up and say "we are mad as hell and we are not going to take it anymore". I for one will stand up. I want better for my grandchildren. I do not want them to have less. Make your voices heard.

In Response to Re: Occupy Wall Street Movement:

If you are saying that everyone who believes in the Republican values is in the 1%, please look again.  There is just as much corruption, greed and underhanded dealing by the Democrats.  Republicans may use the money from the rich to move their agenda; however, on the other hand Democrats use the ill informed and easily influenced masses who can be persuaded to march for their cause while the Labor fat cats and the Party powerful stand in the back encouraging them on.  You need not look any further than the Acorn, Indiana forged signatures, etc. that led to the results of the last Presidential election.

I don’t care which party you belong to, politics has become a contest and a vicious sport where the motto has become “Give it All for the Party (insert your choice here) and to heck with the Country”.

We as a country are rapidly becoming a dysfunctional society where many want a piece of the pie without taking risks and working for it.  Wall Street may have been the catalyst but the OWS movement is just as flawed.  The people who started the OWS movement may have had a great goal in mind but if you took a poll now as to why they are demonstrating I will estimate that less than 50% even know why they are there.  They have succumbed to a mob mentality.

Lastly I have voted Republican, I am not in the 1% and I am not surrounded by luxuries and I still have debt.  However I still believe in hard work and the USA, and I don’t believe that our current government (all sectors)  is “For the People” anymore.

I strongly support those who are able to join the movement of occupy Wall Street. These people on wall street are only occupied with their own greed and making more and more money. Many of them have multi million dollar homes. Buy extravagant luxuries for themselves. They are completely out of touch with the real every day life of the main street persons. Many have lost jobs and are not able to afford even the everyday necessities. And they have a valid reason to demonstrate where the rich and powerful are making even more money.
So a demonstration is needed and there cannot be any more bailouts of corporations such as we have had in the recent past. If a company fails then so be it. No company is too big to fail. Maybe this is the way to bring Wall Street to reality is for a total collapse of the markets similar to 1929. Give a reality test to the rich and powerful.

In Response to Occupy Wall Street Movement:
Occupy Wall Street Movement It seems there is a misunderstanding by many people of why the demonstrators on Wall Street are demonstrating. Seniors are there because of cuts lawmakers are debating in Washington D.C . to Social Security and Medicare. Young people are there demonstrating cuts to education and wanting jobs created. There are people demonstrating rising health care cost. Native Americans are there to demonstrate for the unfair treatment they have received throughout the years by the Government. Others are demonstrating due to the large corporate bailouts. But for the entire group of demonstrators, the root cause of all of these problems is corporate greed and our lawmaker's refusal to recognize that the rich must pay their fair share. The demonstrators call these rich individuals the 1%. The 1% spend millions of dollars influencing our lawmakers and the policies they adopt. The 1% contribute millions to lawmakers' campaigns. The demonstrators want to know why they can't pay taxes. The 1% are getting richer even in these times but the middle class continues to decline. The 1% are cutting costs in their companies by eliminating jobs or sending them overseas where they get cheap labor. And our lawmakers allow these things to happen because they owe the 1% for campaign contributions and no telling what else. In reality the 1% own our lawmakers. What started as a small demonstration on Wall Street is growing and spreading to every major city in the United States and is n I ow spreading all over the World. All due to one root cause and that is corporate greed and lawmakers' reluctance to control it. Our lawmakers must remember that the 99% I haven't mentioned yet are the majority of voters. Russell M. I agree, I believe that the greatest let down to the U.S. citizens, is that there are thousands of people filling our jails that have committed a far less crime than the corporate theives in this country. Steeling retirement money and home equity is horrific, when people have worked all their lives not to have to depend on the government to have a decent retirement and not just survive on the pentance that we will get from SS and Medicare, they have not only stripped us of our assets but of dignity in our senior years and there is no time to make it up. They will retire multi-millionaires and never face the cold reality as we must.

What is really amazing about the Occupy movement is that it is happening in our local cities. But it's also happening all over the WORLD!

I joined the VVAW in 1969 and marched down Wilshere Blvd in Los Angeles.  I will never forget it!

Now the AARP organization must join with the Occupy organizers and get ready for the BIG march!  The "Super Committee didn't have the guts to levy taxes on those making more than $250,00/year.  After the first of the year we retirees will probably see an automatic cut in our benefits.  So what's the plan AARP?
