In Response to Occupy Wall Street Movement : Wow now thats a different twist on why they are protesting. I have spoken with several of the protesters and they clearly are on the give me train. They want us taxpayers too pay for their ENTIRE college education and then provide them with a job. Last time I checked this is still a free country where people pay taxes. They want jobs.. Well unfortunately they do not want to do many of the jobs available(or are not qualified) for the wages that are being offered. Second the Unions have invaded our governments(Federal and state) raising wages and benefits to an unstainable level. They have become unmarketableand unwilling to work for wages the market will bear. Claiming to be the 99% is a huge stretch. I cannot find one person that supports their point of view OR demand... Clearly they must be the 1% wanting the continuance of government taking away from fellow Americans...

In Response to Occupy Wall Street Movement:
You are correct. Everyone in the OWS demonstrations has their hand out for money from working taxpayers. They say that they want "government money" (actually money taken from those who earned it) to go to the "99 percent" instead of the "1 percent". However, the people demonstrating, for the most part, have their own automobiles, homes, big-screen televisions, cable or satellite service, cell phones, etc. Somehow, they find money for those things, but want taxpayer money for their "necessities".

If they would only realize that the "99 percent" DO NOT LIVE IN THE USA. They live in places like Bangladesh and Nigeria. Those living in the United States ARE the 1 percent! They are overfed to the point of obesity, and underworked to the point where few are physically fit.

So if you really believe the 99 percent should get the taxpayers' money, then you should be in favor of sending that money to people in other countries (who, like many of the OWS demonstrators, contribute nothing to the US economy).

In other words, stop complaining and count your blessings, and realize that you live in the wealthiest nation that ever existed, and look at all the truly poor people before you whine.

In Response to Occupy Wall Street Movement:The "occupiers" in my city, trashed a beautiful tourist location, urinated and defecated on our streets and sidewalks, and ate free food provided by entrepreneurs, capitalists, and those with successful businesses.  Clean-up cost our citizens thousands upon thousands of dollars.

Occupy Wall Street Movement It seems there is a misunderstanding by many people of why the demonstrators on Wall Street are demonstrating. Seniors are there because of cuts lawmakers are debating in Washington D.C . to Social Security and Medicare. Young people are there demonstrating cuts to education and wanting jobs created. There are people demonstrating rising health care cost. Native Americans are there to demonstrate for the unfair treatment they have received throughout the years by the Government. Others are demonstrating due to the large corporate bailouts. But for the entire group of demonstrators, the root cause of all of these problems is corporate greed and our lawmaker's refusal to recognize that the rich must pay their fair share. The demonstrators call these rich individuals the 1%. The 1% spend millions of dollars influencing our lawmakers and the policies they adopt. The 1% contribute millions to lawmakers' campaigns. The demonstrators want to know why they can't pay taxes. The 1% are getting richer even in these times but the middle class continues to decline. The 1% are cutting costs in their companies by eliminating jobs or sending them overseas where they get cheap labor. And our lawmakers allow these things to happen because they owe the 1% for campaign contributions and no telling what else. In reality the 1% own our lawmakers. What started as a small demonstration on Wall Street is growing and spreading to every major city in the United States and is now spreading all over the World. All due to one root cause and that is corporate greed and lawmakers' reluctance to control it. Our lawmakers must remember that the 99% I haven't mentioned yet are the majority of voters. Russell M. Before retiring I never could afford to spend this much time demonstrating. I had to earn my living. Who is actually paying these people?

The Occupy people in Portland where I live will cost an estimated $85,000 to repair the damage to our parks they camped in and another $100,000 in overtime for the police who had to work overtime because of their antics. How is that helping the 99%ers when they will be the ones who will have to pay for these things?

People could not get to their homes, grocery and other shopping or places of work without difficulty.

Meantime, homeless people were not allowed to camp on a private lot with the permission of the owner or receive any help from people who wanted to aid them in their plight.

I was an anti-Vietnam supporter in the 60's. I am all for peaceful, non-destructive protests that get a point across. The Occupiers in my city were mostly a bunch of people looking for a party at the expense of those who could ill afford it.

I THINK THIS SHOULD HAVE STARTED A LONG TIME AGO. MORE AND MORE PEOPLE SHOULD TAKE PART IN IT. WALL STREET AND THE BANKS ARE GETTING AWAY WITH MURDER. PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THEIR MORGAGE. BANKS WILL NOT WORK WITH THEM SO THEY CAN KEEP THEIR HOMES.
THE HOUSING MARKET IS SO BAD HOMES ARE ONLY WORTH ONE HALF OF THE CURRENT MORGAGE.
BANKS WON'T WORK WITH THE HOME OWNER SO THEY CAN REMAIN IN THEIR HOMES BUT ARE SPENDING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE THESE FORCLOSED HOMES TORN DOWN SO THE BANK WON'T HAVE TO MAINTAIN THEM AND KEEP THEM UP TO CODE.HERE'S AN IDEA. BET THE BANKS WON'T LIKE THIS ONE EVERYBODY STOP PAYING YOUR MORAGE. IS THE BANKS GOING TO FORCLOSE ON EVERYBODY? AND IF THEY DO? WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO WITH ALL THOSE HOMES? YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY A HOUSE FOR HALF OF WHAT IS OWED ON IT. NO MORGAGE MONEY, NO BANK.
FOOD FOR THOUGHT.  WOULDN'T IT BE FUNNY IF YOU COULD GO AND BUY A FORCLOSED BANK?

I have an idea.Everybody who went to publicly funded State Universities for 600.00 a year  plus books raise their hands.Everyone who has governmental defined benefit pensions (includes military) raise your hands, everyone who has Social Secuity/ Medicare, raise your  hands, everyone who gets free meals even though they should not get them at the Senior Center, raises your hands.
'The non senior population of this country is sick and tired of attitudes like your's.
They;we,pay for your health insurance yet have non of their own. They support senior programs even though they cannot feed their own children, they ,,we subsidize every part of your life as a senior .
Don't give that boloney that you payed into the system over 40 years or so because  that does even begin to touch the full cost of keeping your greedy life style intact. It is Un American.
I am 62 and am ashamed of every one of you with this kind of attitude.
I reserve special rath for the baby boomers; THE WORST GENERATION'.Somebody ought to write a book. I sure wish I was not part of it.

I think the Occupy Street Movement are at the wrong place to get anything done.  They should be in
Washington, D.C. trying to get the House and Senate to listen to what the American people want and need,
which is what is good for our country.  A balanced budget, term limits, end the war in Afgan, bring our
troops home and let them guard the Mexican border to stop the illegals from crossing ove.  If they want
to come, let them come thru the proper channels.  The older generation are the ones that helped make
this country what it was before all this confusion of today and need to be taken care of. Our present President
is too involved in trying to get re-elected and not putting the proper time for his office.
