I came across this op ed piece by Dr. Marc Siegel, a well respected medical practitioner in NYC. It was in the left leaning NY Daily News. Basically, it tells of Dr. Siegel's fear that the patient-doctor relationship will be trumped by the 15 member Medicare Advisory Panel, which would consist of government bureucrats and non-practicing physicians:http://www.nydailynews.com/opinion/obamacare-hurts-seniors-article-1.1141464?localLinksEnabled=false |

My father was a trapper and fisherman years ago, he went to the doctor with a cyst that needed to be removed from a doctor in New Orleans. The doctor performed the operation and when asked what was owed the doctor told him when he hunted ducks in the winter bring him a pair that would be sufficient payment. If the respectable Dr. Siegel started putting patients "First" and "Money" or Politics" on the back burner nothing would TRUMPED. We need more doctors like the one in New Orleans who when died in the late 60's there was hardly any room for all of the people who wanted to pay their respect to such a man. This man was a doctor who only thought of his profession and people. He was richer than anyone with money. Dr. Siegel is a well paid contributor to the Right Wing Republican owned FOX News, which is monitored by Karl Rove and his billionaire Obama hating donors, so believe what you want, but this is more lies. President Obama is NOT taking $716 billion from Medicare. The Romney ad about President Obama taking $716 billion from Medicare has already been proven an outright lie . Several Non Partisan Newspapers, including the Washington Post have called this inaccurate, but Romney keeps running these untruthful ads, because he has unlimited $$$$. President Obama is SAVING MEDICARE, unlike Romney and Ryan, who want to send us to the vulchers with their Voucher system. Remember Paul Ryans wife has worked for years as a Lobbyist for the Private Healthcare Industry, so who's interest are the Ryan's really looking out for ??? You tell me how obama is saving Medicare if $716B is taken away from funds which are used to pay providers. Fewer doctors and hospitals will accept Medicare. As it is it's impossible to find an independent physician. Most pracices have been bought up or are incorporated. I have to wait over 2 months to get my annual Medicare physical. I'm lucky because my physicians group practice no longer accepts new Medicare patients. I remember when we got sick and my mother would call Dr. Tepper. He would come to our house wihin an hour check us out carefully, speak to my mother and take his $3 fee. He had no office staff. Things were simple. Those days are long since gone. It takes over 2 months to set up an appointment for a physical. The practice I use has 6 doctors and about 12 staff people. Most just work on insurance and Medicare forms. Labrat, Romney's ad is full of lies. The NY Times Sunday Review Editorial staff studied these claims and on 8/18/12 put their findings in the Sunday Review. The article " Truth and Lies About Medicare " found just the opposite of Romney's claims. The N.Y. Times states in reality the $716 billion is NOT a cut in benefits, but rather a SAVINGS of $716 billion in cost that the Non Partisan Congressional Budget Office projects over the next decade from wholly reasonable provisions in the Affordable Care Act. The N.Y. Times goes on to say that the Romney / Ryan Plan would cause a $109 billion dollar loss to taxpayers over the next decade and would give our seniors less coverage. Romney just keeps spreading these lies with his endless money and the Billionaire Donor owned FOX News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and Bill O"rielly keep repeating these outright lies. Labrat, I know your'e a well educated man, who has a great dislike for President Obama, but DOESN"T THE TRUTH MATTER ANYMORE ?Response to Re: How obamacare Hurts Seniors: You tell me how obama is saving Medicare if $716B is taken away from funds which are used to pay providers. 20-30 years ago a doctors took the time to carefully evaluate you, explain things to you and offer different options. That's all gone by the wayside. Right now the first person you see is an office staff member who seems more concerned with your insurance coverage than anything else. Next, you are ushered in by a physicians assistant who does some routine checks. The "doctor" may spend 5-10 minutes with me. My concern is that the system is overloaded. Doctors are leaving Medicare. What does the future hold? Response to Re: How obamacare Hurts Seniors: Labrat, Romney's ad is full of lies. Those day are still here, there are doctors here in the South that still cater to the poor not taking any money if they are too poor. There are still doctor's who take their oath seriously. In this country and third world countries alike, I know I was treated by one in Africa that didn't cost anything (an American Doctor). You see Labrat you live in a world where lies and distortions like Obama has taken money away from Medicare is just what it is a "LIE". I don't have to give you proof the proof is all over the place except FOX news. You want to believe these things rather than the truth. But the people are seeing now that the Republicans are looking to change Medicare and that's going to hurt them in the polls. They are seeing that if they get their way with Medicare, Social Security is next. The only thing that keeps small time Republicans that don't really have money going is Arrogance and hatred. You would think the way they talk they are part of the !% but they're not. In Response to Re: How obamacare Hurts Seniors: I remember when we got sick and my mother would call Dr. Tepper.
