Yes, Republican Conservative Milton also said of the Bush Admin. in 2000 " Obviously the Republicans had been out of the White House for a long time and when they got it in 2000, they had things they wanted to do and they did it regardless of the budget consequences". ( During an interview with writer Adam Nash ). Milton Friedman was also President Reagans Economics advisor when Reagan raised taxes on the wealthy, more than once. Mr. Friedman sounded like a smart guy, but today's Republican Right Wing Leaders Boehner, Cantor and Ryan would have NO use for him. Are you kidding me, Reagan and Friedman raised taxes on the wealthy, how dare them, what do they know anyways. Milton also worked under F.D.R. in 1941 - 1943 as a tax policy advisor and Milton helped create our Payroll Withholding Tax to help pay for WWII. Too bad he didn't talk to President Bush about how we were going to pay for the Iraq War. Instead Bush and Cheney cut taxes for the wealthy and Corporations and put the Iraq War on our credit card ( Current balance of $5 trillion and growing ). We dont know what the total cost of the Iraq War will be to our economy because we are still paying to rebuild Iraq's Infrastructure and our brave veterans, who made it home alive, well over 30,000 of them are disabled and will need costly medical care. All that to catch Sadaam Hussein in a fox hole with $200,000 U.S. cash and a S&W 38 caliber revolver. The Republicans still want to ignore all the costs associated with Iraq and somehow blame President Obama for our deficit mess. President Obama voted against the Iraq Invasion as a Senator, he got our troops home from Iraq and moved enough troops into the right country to catch Bin Laden. Labrat you and so many Republicans dont want to accept or hear about what Iraq has done to us. When Iraq is brought up it makes Republicans mad as heck and they go into denial. The subject quickly gets changed to attack President Obama time. It is what it is, my friend. Why doesn't the Right Wing Republican media talk about the biggest male influence in President Obama's life, his white grandfather, who just happened to be a WWII hero with General Patton's Army. No it makes more sense to focus on his black muslim father from Kenya, who President Obama only spent a few MONTHS with in his entire life. Today's Right Wing should be ashamed of themselves, President Reagan nor President Bush Sr. would have any part of what the Republican Right Wing stands for today. If you let the Rush Linbaugh's and Fox News get to you with their lies, hate and vulgarities, then thats what you will become, plain and simple. We as Americans are supposed to have each other's backs, not stab each other in the back By the way President Obama is not apologizing to any third world country for our success, now you sound like Rush Linbaugh. Take care, Labrat Response to Milton Friedman: Today marks the 100th anniversary of this Nobel Prize winning economist's birth. There's no question that this man, who inspired Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher was probably the greatest economist this country ever produced. I remember using his book on the free market sytem and freedom for one of my economics courses. I just wonder how he would react to how this great nation is rapidly being turned into a socialist backwater and how we have a leader that has to apologise to every 3rd world nation for our success?

" By the way President Obama is not apologizing to any third world country for our success, now you sound like Rush Linbaugh." First off, I don't and never have listened to Limbaugh. Second, Did you listen to obama's Cairo speech ? According to it our nation was based upon islamic principles. Did you not see obama bow to the Saudi King??? Milton Friedman believed that economic freedom (minimal government influence in the economy) was the basis for personal freedom. The US has dropped several rankings since obama took office. If you want to bring up preferential treatment to the Saudi Arabian Royal Family. Remember moments after the 9/11 attack, when President Bush ordered all commercial planes grounded, except one. Let's talk about who was in the one and only commercial plane that Bush allowed to be in the air after our nation was under attack from the Saudi Muslim Extremist. In that plane was the Saudi Arabian Royal Family and several of BIN LADENS relatives. President Bush went out of his way to protect THEM, during the biggest attack on our nation since Pearl Harbor. So dont tell me about who kisses the Saudi's behinds. And you have the nerve to complain about a bow gaffe by our current President. President Obama and the Democrats have been trying to push for alternative energy, so we can reduce our dependency on Saudi Arabian Oil, but your Republicans have blocked that too. You have a short memory or look the other way, when it comes to questionable Republican moves, but when President Obama passes gas, your right on top of it. Your hate for Obama is blinding you and the Right Wing Republicans and its beyond sad. You say you dont listen to Rush Limbaugh, but sadly you sound just like him. What Bush did with the Saudi royals was WRONG. He should have grounded them. He did a lot of things i didn't agree with. As far as alternate energy sources are concerned- they're still a long way off. I worked on several solar related projects and I can tell you that solar is no where near as efficient as fossil fuels are. We also don't have the battery technology for energy storage. Wind energy is a joke. To replace one Indian Point Reactor, You'd have to place windmills across the entire state of Rhode Island-not to mention the thousands of birds that are sliced and diced. We have a multiyear supply of coal, which we should be taking advantage of. modern coal fired energy plants are relatively clean. Coal energy is cheap. Obama really doesn't care about the cost involved in going away from our abundant fossil fuels nor does he care about the effect it has on our economy. If we are in decline and dropped several rankings just maybe George W. and his pal Cheney have a little bit to do with it. If I remember correctly George telling the world "if you are not with me than you are against me" before invading Iraq that really made a lot of friends and showed what ARROGANCE really meant,as the TEA PARTY is showing now especially when it was not him or his kids coming home in body bags or with legs and arm blown off. . It's this ARROGANCE that is killing this nation. This war that is being waged against the middle class, poor, infirmed and elderly for the blunders of the 1% and their closest friends the Republicans. We may go down but we will also rise from the ashes of Arrogance and hatred and bigotry. Response to Milton Friedman : Posted by Labrat64 Certainly following Bush & Rice who didn't know how to make and keep friends surely helped us get bombed on 911.and even made our allies angry at us. . Now ROmney is following in those footprints as his trip overseas was a failure ....he aggravated a lot of people in England, Poland and the middle east that you must have read reports on. Obama is well-liked overseas ( even in Cairo--) so I say for striving for world-peace is his popularity so awful after the hate that we have seen during the time the republicans ran everything for 8 years. So if one wants to look at it in terms of a popularity contest... that ought to explain how Obama's doing SOMETHING good. |

Astra, no Americans are liked in Al - Qaeda hide outs. Response to Re: Milton Friedman: Milton Friedman is of Austrian school of economics as ONLY Ron Paul is among our candidates. We can't generalize, not all Republicans are neo-cons and not all Democrats are communists. and our bickering and finger-pointing will not help our country. i happen to believe that both Romney and Obama would not change anything SIGNIFICANTLY and sooner or later we will have to face the collapse of a dollar (and I have 1 000 000 dol. note as a joke...) ONLY Ron Paul addresses our monetary policy abd frankly I think that only Ron Paul (of the 3 candidates) understands our economic situation.and only he will do something to prevent American fall. That's the reality. (btw Obama is NOT liked in countries he bombs)
