In Response to Re: meet the candidate- RON PAUL: When both Republican and Democratic establishments fight a candidate it means that this is the one for the people. That's why I support Ron Paul! Posted by Astra2012 That does not mean anything to me other than he belonging to another party which he did when he ran for the Libertarian party which is not a pro-life party. They do not support social security or medicare and naturally get rid of income taxes. They support totally free trade without restraints by the governmen where we can expect to lose more jobs. Unrestrained Capitalism is not a friend of the common man. Many still see Ron Paul as a libertarian, and I would not be surprised to see him once more return to that party. |

Posted by JimR45 The Libertarian Party establishment fights him too - Bob Barr of lp endorsed Gingrich he run from lp in 1988 but realized only Dems and Reps have a chance to be elected so now he runs from GOP but in 1988 and now he is his own man-- and his consistency is unlike that of other candidates he is pro-life as I said before, includind life of soldiers and lesser lives of foreigners. |

It seems so much of his following comes from the young which reminds me of some movies made back in the 70's. I think back to a professot back in graduate school talking about liberals and conservatives with one benefit of conservatism is that you can llearn from the past. Now how do we learn from the future. A following of youth might imply the naivitee of his following. |

This is just not true. Look at the people at his rallies- middle-aged are there too! I'm not going to brag about my age but both my husbandand I areabove40! He has PhD in chemistry, i have in microbiology and are not naive! lotsof our friends, PhDs, MDs also support Ron Paul as he is the only candidate there with common sense. (btw the media may also add "drug users" to his crowd -- they talk of neither one of us) |

I have seen a broad spectrum of ages that follow him, but in some states he had strength with youth, though as was mentioned in one report it was he and Santorum that competed for the youth vote. So do not take my comment to fully explain his support. |

To my knowledge the constitution does not limit the federal government to gold or silver, though it speaks to the states about some restrictions there. |
