AARP really had your interest in mind by trying not to name and target the Republicans that are looking to privatize Social Security and cut Medicare. Don't even tell me that I'm lying when all you have to do is read the newspaper once and a while. AARP has been trying to play both sides of the fence and trying to please both liberals and conservatives. That is hard to do when they know who really want to cut these programs. You evidently have enough money that you don't have to worry about either Social Security or health care. What you are not thinking of is the people who depend on Social Security and Medicare and cuts to either one could be a death sentence. As I said before the United States spent billions on wars in Iraq and Afganistan but they want to cut these programs so badly needed by our most vulnerable citizens. This is not fair when this 1% are making record profits and giving themselves fat bonuses. Even when the economy you are talking about is as bad as you say it is. Who do you think the Republicans are protecting? It sure isn't the poor, old or disabled. As for the grandchildren you are talking about. You can love them and educate them than they have to control their own destiny. I hope they take care of their own better than we are. n Response to My Best Interest Do Not Align with AARP's.: I think that what AARP wants in there best interest is not in my best interest. Obviously, I am a senior and less obvious is the fact that I have grand children. I am on a fixed income. From my personal economics, the rise in gas prices, the drop in housing value, and the unemployment rate effects me greatly. On an bigger view, his failure to support our small businesses, his not honoring his campaign promises and his inability to lead and consolidate Congress are killing the economy of this great country. II believe your putting Ms. Obama on the cover of your mag means that you support all that his corrupt administration is doing. It also tells me you act more as a PAC than an organization supporting seniors. This man and his minions, of which AARP is one, could care less about the future of my grandchildren and my social security and medicare benefits. In my view you have sold us out. Good bye. Not renewing. Oh, and in closing, Ms. Biden is married to a clown. Posted by gabulldog66 |

In Response to Re: My Best Interest Do Not Align with AARP's.: Just wanted to let you know!! I do not want my money going to support the current administration. It is easy to see where AARP is sending it's support. Home value's decreasing every day, Portfolio going down the drain. Cannot understand why AARP would support senior's losing everything they have worked for. MEMBER SINCE 1999. WILL NOT BE RENEWING MY MEMBERSHIP !!!! Does AARP have any response to what is happening to seniors????????????? Posted by andybarn While someone else explained the GOP's rotten position on SS and Medicare.......I feel I need to tell you that the budget that OBama inherited was prepared by the BUSH ADMINISTRATION that you are most complaining the RESULTS from it about ? Are you aware that about 300 deregulations to the environment and to Wall Street when the republicans ran everything that Greenspan who LONG resisted deregulation said the crisis had shaken his very understanding of how markets work, and agreed regulation is necessary. that financial derivatives should be regulated -- an idea he had long resisted. " Do you even know the Iraq war that Wolfowicz the Bush advisor said that the Iraqis would welcome us...we would be out in no time and Iraqis would pay for the war while Cheney wore a path to the Pentagon to cherry-pick info to sell the war for Cheney's company Halliburton to profit billions from ? If you are angry at the blackened oily snowy egrets ... save some of it for those .republicans who created the mess we have today that the democrats are trying to FIX even though the party of NO to everything doesn't help. . The GOP does not put PEOPLE FIRST ( unless its the already wealthy). |

In Response to Re: My Best Interest Do Not Align with AARP's.: Obama is trying desperately to swim with both legs being held by the republican congress. NEVER in history has there been a party, democrat or republican who have done so much to do so little for the good of this country and its' people. Never have we had a group who are interested only in making their superior, their boss, their leader, the President of the United States fail. It does not concern them that if the President fails...so does this country. Never have there been so many who have no facts to back up their putting down the President. They have nothing on their side. Nothing good they have done to build a case against President Obama. They know only hate and fear. That is what they preach. If the only place you get your political information is from people like FOX 10 then you will remain ignorant, uninformed, scared and full of hate. I want more in my life than that. I will vote for more. I will not vote on the basis of fear, hate and lies. I will not be lead to slaughter without knowing the turns, pot holes and the EXIT of that road to the pen. We have a choice but if all we do is close our eyes and ears, listen to only what we grew up believing, never finding out for ourselves, never listening to "the other side" then we will remain in the dark and be only the eco of somebody else with no original thought of our own. I refuse to be reduced to being a No Body. I listen. I hear. I read. I know Obama is the one to lead us out of what the republicans have created....a road to poverty and despair. I will vote for President Obama in a heart beat. I hope you will too. Posted by firstsignature You are kidding, right? Since President Hussein Obama has been in office the congress has NOT passed a budget. Instead they have gone down a road spending and taxing hard working taxpaying Americans into an early grave. They have diminished America's stature in the world and cut the legs out from under our great military. He has single handedly spent more than the last 5 presidents put together and set America on a course to becoming a third rate SOCIALIST country. He is constantly pandering to voting blocks(see the Student loans give away) and taking every opportunity to make a political stance. |

AARP is a lobbyist for seniors they aren't CONGRESS. I just believe YOU-ALL are angry at the WRONG ONES. !!! .
Politicians should be focusing like a laser beam on overhauling the medical system, not wasting time fixing a Social Security system that isnt close to being broken. Of course doing so would involve taking on massively powerful interest groups, ranging from Big Pharma to the AMA . The question is, do they have the guts to do so? The Republicans feel they just can not allow a government run program that succeeded to stand. It disproves their held position that government can do nothing well. They will not be satisfied until they have killed these programs that have served the people so well. We have seen them try to starve them to death or put incompetents in charge to prove their contention. And they will never stop trying to erase this and other good government programs because they can not stand to be proven wrong." . Social Security Is Like a "Milk Cow with 310 Million Tits says Republican---idiot SIMPSON.... he stands for all of them. |

In Response to My Best Interest Do Not Align with AARP's.: Obviously you have not been paying attention to what has been going on in this country since 2000. Gas prices started rising in 2001 in answer to 9/11 and again in 2003 with the psuedo invasion of Iraq. The housing bubble started going south in 2006 and finally came to a head in 2007 with the financial industry fiasco in 2008. Guess who was in charge of our government then! Bush JR. and the Republicans controlled the House and Senate so if you want to blame anybody, blame them. As a retired military wife, I can tell you that the current President has done more to support the military and its families than any Republican legislator. Why don't you try reading a little and checking out your facts first before blaming AARP because you didn't pay attention. |

DJIA, the stock market, is up 50% since Obama took office, so investors and others are doing very well. Google it, if you doubt. Corruption? none, and he got bin laden and other aq leaders in less than 3 years when bush couldn't do it in 7. AARP is doing a great job of looking after seniors' interests. Take another look.
