The figures you quoted were in effect (for future years) before Obamacare was even discussed but it still depends on your personal finances so I wouldn't worry about it now. Maybe there will be a one-payer for all if we can get rid of republicans against it. ...and that would be a blessing for everyone. . . |

I guess it's good to live in a swing state. Our rates are up sharply this year. Response to Re: Increase in Medicare rates: The figures you quoted were in effect (for future years) before Obamacare was even discussed but it still depends on your personal finances so I wouldn't worry about it now. Maybe there will be a one-payer for all if we can get rid of republicans against it. ...and that would be a blessing for everyone. . . ("Obamacare") actually creates an entire roster of new benefits , including full coverage for preventative medical care without coinsurance or deductibles, discounts on prescription drugs and the gradual closure of the Part-D "donut hole" that had previously forced retirees to pay thousands of dollars out-of-pocket for medication. In total so far, 5.2 million Medicare recipients have saved $4 billion on prescription drugs alone because of the dreaded Obamacare legislation. That's $629 per person -- money they would have otherwise had to pay out their own pockets I live in Florida and a Humana Rep was just at my home this morning and going over their many--types of plans .....I signed up for their #199 Plan which means Zero premium and I also get refunded for Part B via my SS check. All the co-pays in the plans are lower than they were. My primary doctor visits and tests are Zero co-pay and specialists are $37 copay. I'm fortunate to be realtively healthy but even so my out of pocket for catastrophic would be maxed at $6700. Posted by JANMB |

In Response to Increase in Medicare rates: I have never been on this site so I hope I am going about it in the correct format. My friend sent me an e-mail from Professor Emeritus John W. Hill, JD, PhD Kelly School of business Indiana University. The article states that The per person Medicare Insurance Premium will increase from the present monthy fee of $96.40 to: $104.20 in 2012, $120.20 in 2012 and $247.00 in 2014" These are Provision incorporated in the Obamacare Legislation, purposely delayed so as not to confuse the 2012 Re-Election campaigns. This signed Peggy Riehle, Internal Representative Network Contracting. Does anyone have a source where this can be checked? OMG, I sure hope it is incorrect. I am on a fixed income and hope to be alive in 2014, but if SS does not increase this figure would be 1/3 of my SS check!!!! Thanks to anyone that has info. Uncleansell3, Repeating my reply to your similar post in another discussion: There are no such "facts." That is one of the many chains of disinformation spread online about the health care law.The rumor has been de-bunked over and over again -- by sources as diverse as the Wall Street Journal to PolitiFact (several times) to Snope. The issue of affordable health care is complicated enough without being bogged down by deliberate fabrications. Posted by uncleansell3 |
