Hi JRow. Please don't leave. Voices like yours are needed to counterbalance the liberal and leftist viewpoints that are so prevalent here. Presenting the facts, especially from first hand experience is the way to counter the lies and mis-information presented. Response to I'm Done With AARP: AARP is nothing but a propaganda and lobby group for Obama, and I'm sick an tired of reading the garbage. FACT: I am a hospital adminsistrator. I have seen changes in our ability to administer proper medical care to everbody since some of the Obamacare rules have been implemented. Now Obama, is going to implemet a policy that no one can be re-admitted to the hospial within a 60 day period. Another Fact: 716 milliion dollars were taken from medicare to fund Obamacare. His healthcare czar, Donald Berwick, state that (paraphrasing) It's not whether or not rationing will occur, it's whether or not we will ration with our eyes open. Translation: That means that a govenrment beauracrat will decide who's life is worth more to society, or has more chance of longevity to determine who will get care. That means that seniors will be at the bottom of the list. And, doctor whom I have talked o in private practices, are going to quit taking Medicare altogether because the reimbursements are already so low that another cut would mean, inmany cases, that a physician would lose mobey to do a surgery or proceedure. They are going to "boutique" style practices, accepting money only for everyone. Or, they're retiring, leaving the counrty, or changing fields. I was just speaking to an intern yesterday who is so discouraged after seeing what is happening, that she is thinking of trying to do something else besides medicine, after spending all those years and money on her education. How many students do you think will want to go into medicine, repay absorbenent student loans, and get paid much less than expected to work in a failing system. Our enrollment will drop drastically, and witht the influx of so many people into the system, long waiting periods, resultiing in deaths in many cases, and poor quality care will be the "new normal". I have friends in England who HATE their healthcare system, and that's what we're going to. No matter what you are told otherwise by the White House or the media. I work in the system and I know what's coming. We need a system to cover people who are uncovered. Not everyone, and especially not people who already have insurance through their employers. Obama's goal is a single payer sytem accomplished by putting private insurance companies out of business, and guess what. The "evil" insurance comapnies are the new government contractors who are, and will be in the future, administering the healthcare plans. This move DID NOT get rid of insurance companies that people seem to despise so much. A system to cover only saftey net people would have cost far less, and would have been much easier to implemet. Plus, care would not suffer such a disabling blow. In short, the whole move toward Obamacare was a move toward a socialized America. Google "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" power point video. It is a very revealing comparison about what happened to Argentina, one of the most properous nations in the world before socialist took over in the 20's, to what has happend to that country up until today nder socialism. EVERONE suffered and is still suffering. They went from being huge exporters to having to import everything, like we are now, to a country with no commerce or jobs, and 300% inflation. Take a look. It's historically accurate, and worth the time to watch. This country WILL NOT survive without a bolster for our small businesses, and corporations. Our tax uncertainties, and tarriff situation are keeping businesses from hiring, companies from building and exporting products from this country, and businesses are still failing. Unemployment has not improved, and he's had 4 years to do it. He can't balme his prececessor for ever, espescially when he outspent every president in history in his first 4 months, including Bush with the wars, etc.. I wasn't happy with a lot of what Bush did, but I'd take him anyday over this debacle. If you think things can't get any better if Romney is elected, thing again. It can get far worse if Obama is re-ected. If your only issue is race, then pick a black candidate with experience and good ideas, and suppot them at the grassroots level. There are plenty of them out there. Obama had a socialist agenda from the very beginning. All you have to do is research his education, and watch the things he said back during the days before he considered running for president. The man was raised by a communist family. That should tell you something about how far the apple falls from the tree. If he were white, asian, hispanic, etc., I'd feel the same way about him because i took the time to educate myself on him before I voted, and can see, as a hospital administrator, what is already getting screwed up, and what is comming in our medical system. and as an informed person, I can see what is happening to our nation. It's not about race. It's about saving our country. In regard to Paul Ryan's plan, it will not effect anyone under 55 years of age, and it only allows people to chose whether they want to invest in private retirment, or stay with the government system that will be insolvent in the not so distant future.Personally, even with a terrible economy, my annuity made way more money for my retirement than what Medicare will pay when I retire. If I were a young person, I would want a choice. That's all it is. A choice. It's not manditory. AARP is a huge lobby group, and has taken the wrong side. They should have stayed out of politics altogether. We seniors are intelligent people, and can make our own judgements. I quit AARP when they chose sides and involved themselves in politics. Their goal should be to help protect the rights of seniors, and look out for thier interests. But, they sold out. Good riddence, AARP. Like rats off a sinking ship, your going to suffer from memership loss for this mistake. Posted by Jrow1 |

Posted by Jrow1 I have been working with seniors for a good long while and I really don't think a lot of them really understand the perils that this law is going to reap upon all of us. It's not just Medicare changes either - HHS is planning to increase the MEDICAID doctor reimbursement schedule in order to keep doctors in the MEDICAID system - remember we will have a HUGE expansion of the MEDICAID program under this law too. So senior will be competing for doctors that accept both programs and it is gonna be hard to find a doc that has any spare time. By the way, in order to pay for this increase in reimbursement to MEDICAID docs, the idea is to take this from the pay of specialist who now accept Medicare. |

Yeah I'll take your word for it Gail over Wendell Potter, who is a retired CEO from Cigna, one of the largest Private Healthcare Compnanies on the planet, who says Paul Ryans Voucher system will make millions more for CEO's and cost our seniors and disabled thousands more. It's also cozy that Paul Ryan's wife, Janna, is a healthcare Lobbyist. Nice conflict of interest. Independent Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders calls Ryans Voucher system " The Death Sentence For Our Seniors and Disabled Children ". Real Nice, Death Sentence to Disabled Children. Any Sacrifice, as long as we dont have to go back to the Clinton Tax Rates for the wealthy, which was a whole 3% more. Yeah, the economy was only in a surplus, not deficit under Clinton. Throw the elderly and disabled children under the bus, as long as the well off can keep that extra 3%. Now thats compassion, my friends. With all due respect, The Romney Ad that alleges $716 billion was taken from Medicare is false. The Congressional Budget Office, which is Non Partisan released a study that actually shows President Obama's Plan SAVES $716 billion over 10 years. The last 3 Romney Ads against Obama were proven false by N.Y. Times Sunday Review and The Washington Post. You know, we're supposed to be the greatest nation on the Earth. It's about time we start acting like it instead of taking care of the precious few that are filthy rich and don't have to pay taxes that include doctors. If lesser countries than us can take care of their own we certainly are able to regardless of what these doctors are claiming. What do you think a doctor practicing in a third world country is making? And they are just as good as over here I know I've been to a few in my life. Matter fact many were Americans. I've been on flights that were filled with doctors, nuns and health care workers from many different countries going into harms way, not because of the "MONEY", but because they were needed. There were no tourist on those flights, no sight seers, just heroes risking their lives to save lives. That's what medecine is about nothing more.
