In Response to High Gas Prices: Why isn't there a loud and constant complaint of the high gas prices? I remember in the late 60s or early 70's when people would be on the steps of the capitol building and calling their congressmen. Why not today? This all has to be engineered to make money for the oil companoies, Wall Street Investors, and the Keystone Pipeline. This is the time of the year when gas should be at its lowest and it is the highest of the year already with prices expected to go higher. Yet, NO ONE COMPAINS, DEMONSTRATES, OR NOTHING SAID ABOUT CONGRESS BEING CALLED. Just asking. Are we now all wimps and just follow and complain like those headed to the death camps in Europe? No one does anything. Posted by SER It’s all about the “benjamins.” At least, that has a whole lot to do with it. As long as it means more money in their pockets, the gas giants take advantage of our dependency and keep the price of gas rising. Why? Because, no matter how much we complain, we’ll keep paying whatever is on the pump. And with summer travel spikes on the horizon, we can expect to see the price continue to climb until the fall. You might think that those in the position to change things would look out for the well-being of their fellow Americans and give us a break. But they won’t. Greed can be a strong motivator. And as long as the economy continues to get stronger, demand will also rise. There are other factors, of course, that keep the price of gas on the rise. Like the outages our nation’s refineries have been having lately, which decreases production, thus decreasing supply. And, according to the Energy Information Administration (EIA), gasoline stockpiles have been drained more quickly over the last three months than any time in the history of the EIA’s record keeping. That, my friend, is not a good thing. |

We will always be at the mercy of " Big Oil " and their Lobby will make sure Congress keeps it that way.Response to Re: High Gas Prices: In Response to High Gas Prices : It’s all about the “ benjamins .” At least, that has a whole lot to do with it. JUST GOGGLE "WHO CONROLS GAS PRICES" and you will find a conversation anywhere from NBC to The Christian Monitor or even grassroots organizations. So your complaints to congress our president or anyone in GOVT will be just background noise...they don't have the power. |

There is no complaint because obama is president. When Bush was in there were constant complaints in the press and in congress about Bush being in bed with the oil companies. The fact is the administrations war on fossil fuels is largely responsible. It is the goal of the obama administration to raise the price of fossil fuels to such a high level that solar and wind will be competitive. All on private or state lands. Less Federal land is now available for oil exploration than under Bush. Permit approval is also down.
