Sure the President would accept his health care plan.  Only people blinded by racism and hatred don't want it.  My daughter has MD, and lost both kidneys a while back and couldn't get health insurance where she worked because of her pre existing condition until the President denied Big Insurance from excluding her.  Pass that around.

I completely agree with you about the necessity of having insurance available for people such as your daughter. I feel very sorry for her as her condition is only aggravated by not having access to health care without going bankrupt. I'm always amazed at these Repubs who pretend to be Christians, but don't want government involved in their health care. Obviously, they're well covered by employers, have access to Medicare or are wealthy enough to pay for private insurance. They never think about the terrible fears and frustrations of those who have to face an illness or injury without the ability to afford insurance or to pay for it.

I have a brother whose wife has spent a year undergoing cancer treatments. Both are almost 60, work in the medical field and are Republicans. His wife hasn't worked for a very long time, now only part-time, so they've lost a lot of income. They also have a 15 year old daughter. My brother had to spend over $20,000 out of pocket for co-pays which took money from their retirement funds. He worries what would happen if his wife lost her insurance with the hospital. Now he's beginning to like the idea of the ACA which would allow her to purchase insurance with a pre-existing condition. It might even be affordable seeing that they've gone from a 2 paycheck household to one.

They are basically cold and heartless as they don't seem to care about parents without insurance who have a very ill child, spouse or are ill themselves and can't work.

So many times here in Louisiana I see benefit dinners being sold etc.  trying to cover medical expenses for a child with cancer or one who has been in a tramatic accident knowing full well they will never raise enough money to cover these expenses and yet in a state that poverty is above the national average it is a Republican State with  a Governor who has no problem closing state run hospitals and cutting education but refuses to raise taxes on the rich.  It is just hard for me to comprehend.

The ACA is not going to end co-pays or deductibles  -

The plans offered will still have to be evaluated by those who are purchasing them as the best value, based on their health needs and their pocketbook - even those that are getting the subsidized plans under the exchanges.

Pre-exisitng conditions cannot be considered, and that is good but there is still the age factor that can be used in the determination of premiums.

Until all the plans are reveled as to what is covered, amount of premiums, co-pays & deductibles - I just don't know how expensive they will be and I don't think anybody else does either at this point.

Knowing that life sometimes throws us for a loop for one reason or another, isn't it better to prepare somewhat before hand?  Especially when you know that when an illness strikes, your policy calls for deductibles and co-pays up to a certain specified amount.  This is not changing with the ACA - the insurance companies will do their part as contracted when illness strikes but the insured must do their part too - one without the other will not work.  It is this part that worries me most about the ACA - that and people understanding their respective policy choices.

Guess within the next year or two we will see exactly how "Affordable" it is.

According to my Dr. his opinion is that Medicare won't pay if you should fall lets say in someone else's home! That would be a liability case and home owners ins. would have to take care of that. I believe I stated previously that our family Dr. said  that Dr. will have two software's to use so that the gov. at any time can log into the files of a patient and know all about the medical situations of a patient. The Dr. told my wife that the gov. wanted to know if our home had throw rugs! I guess they are going to tell us how to furnish our homes!!! Our Orthopedist said he will not participate in the gov. program and said it's less expensive to pay the yearly fine!

That's already the case and has been under both Medicare and Medicaid - they will, of course, pay for you to be treated but will expect reimbursement if there is an insurance payout - same is true if you are in car accident or any other type situation where you are injured and there will be a settlement.

Medicare and Medicaid already have files on your health care - they pay the claims.  Most all doctors who treat geriatric patients always caution about throw rugs especially as they get older and may have other problems too - eye sight, vertigo, just plain ole not as steady on their feet.

I deliver meals on wheels and have myself replaced light bulbs, removed throw rugs and even moved furniture - once I had to call my direct supervisor so she could report a hole in someone's floor - Don't ask me where this person's family was in all of this.

A doctor can treat anybody that he wants to treat - he doesn't have to accept Medicare assignment nor Medicaid and I have no idea about "a fine"?

SHHH .......congress and the the rest of Govt employees ....what they really have is a  " UNION."  and why they have a grand-pension and healthcare plan.       But, remember   the republicans don't like unions---they hate them  ( unless they are in congress)  Everything should be privatized according to republicans ....everything even your health.

So far,  my medicare advantage plans have lower -co-pays and more free-be's than last year's plans but I feel sorry for those under 65.  . Seniors are seeing a $600 rebate on drugs.....there are no pre-existing condition-clauses and insurers can't raise premiums anytime they have a whim to.

But I know what you are saying....we should have had a UNIVERSAL healthcare plan but republicans don't want that either....they like the fact insurance corporations are making 30% profit off of  the cost of your healthcare.    And apparently PRESIDENT Obama knew that and tried to get some reform passed which has helped some people a great deal.

Here's a list of countries who are far ahead of the USA on helping their citizens and not just the rich.

I'm going to take your article and post it to Letter to the Editor of our local newspaper because it explains it all.  But some people rather listen to propaganda put out by Insurance lobbyist who influence our lawmakers.  Congress and Govt. employees really have a Union.

Along with this list, make sure you give their income sources for this coverage - Yes, I'm sure Americans would want a 28% VAT to make everything go up to fund this sort of health care coverage.  Would our wprld renoun specialist be so happy to go on the government payroll of providers?

And remember, you don't get everything that you want in health care, nor in a timely fashion many times - that's why there is the continuation and the re-emergence of private health insurance in many of these countries.

We would also slow down on research and development - right now we lead in cancer cures.

Last I read almost ALL countries are having a problem with health care cost - no matter how care is provided.

I'm starting to see some tweaks in Medicare to save it money - but that out of pocket is flowing to the receipients.  That's how government "REFORMS". - the cost is just put on another party.
