Social Security is okay and easily fixed as it was fixed before if republicans  would cooperate again cause they hate this benefit.

Medicare  is a lot harder to fix as generally, Medicare is available for younger people with disabilities and people with End Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or transplant) and of course people age 65 or older all vulnerable people to illness.

If Medicare was  turned into a voucher program. this would be great for insurance companies -- but it would require seniors to pay more. And with so many living on a fixed income, this could leave them with nowhere to turn.     A program like that wouldn’t be fair to seniors who rely on Medicare for their economic security.     It wouldn’t be Medicare at all.

Medicare is critical to the retirement security of millions. It is a promise we made nearly half a century ago

The answer would be ONE PAYER----medicare for all ---The basic rule is the larger the pool the less expensive the health care. Today we have 1,300 separate pools - separate health care plans - and that is why health care is so expensive; 700 pools would be more efficient and less expensive and one pool would be the least expensive. That's why single payer is the answer."

Nothing like common sense.

IF Medicare is having problems why do Republicans think by passing it on to insurance companies that insurance companies won't have the same problem?  And they will,  but they will just raise the cost of your premium and raise the deductable enough for them to make a profit of course.

We can only guess....and mine would be that the republicans want to capitalize everything.    The USA  were not always "all for profit"  but it's becoming all that we are today.     The ones who hate the gov't and want it smaller forget who had to bail out the capitalists.    Those that believe private charities should be stepping in to help folks in need forget its the FED GOVT that most often  donates to these  private charities.

It's mostly the people who have profited the most off the backs of workers in this country want government to give them as much as possible in return......  while Gov't  should demand as little as possible from them in the way of taxation.    They want everything but want someone else to pay for it....  will rewrite history (especially Reagan's) and have turned into greedy-monsters led on by Gover Norquist.

IThe Republicans are being pushed and influenced by the top 1% , who are the business owners who dont want to continue to match the 6.2% payroll tax for their employees. So if Romney wins say goodby to Social Security and Medicare. If the Republicans take control of the Senate and Romney wins, the middle class is done for !!!n Response to Re: Got questions on Social Security or Medicare?:
