In Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte: For all you seniors, if Obama gets elected and Obama Care goes through, good luck finding a doctor to care for your needs. Today's Medicare, more doctors are either leaving the practice or not accepting Medicare patients because the government continues to reduce their pay for the services provided. I believe Medicare physician fees were reduced in only one year -- by 4.8% in 2002. It is an issue that unfortunately comes up every year and needs to be addressed. Here's a helpful explanation of what's driving the problem.Posted by joe87 |

From President Obama's acceptance speech: “I will never turn Medicare into a voucher. We will reform and strengthen Medicare for the long haul, but we’ll do it by reducing the cost of health care — not by asking seniors to pay thousands of dollars more.” “We will keep the promise of Social Security by taking the responsible steps to strengthen it – not by turning it over to Wall Street.’’ From Mitt Romney's acceptance speech: “[President Obama's] $716 billion cut to Medicare to finance Obamacare will both hurt today’s seniors, and depress innovation — and jobs — in medicine.’’ He pledged to create a future “where no senior fears for the security of their retirement." What questions related to these comments would you ask the candidates? |

Kimster, The Congressional Budget Office has studied Romney's claim that Obama is taking $716 billion from Medicare and they found it false. The CBO says Obama's plan is estimeted to save $716 billion over 10 yrs. The last 4 Romney attack ads were proven false by CBO, Politifact, Wash Post and NY Times, so how do you know what to believe from Romney's camp, other than lowering taxes for the wealthy ? John Kerry was pretty good too. I liked his " Ask Bin Laden if were better off now or 4 yrs ago " or " Before Mitt Romney debates Obama ,he better finish his debate with himself ". Ouch ! Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte: Dems had a great convention with compelling arguments as to why voters should choose Obama over Romney. Biden was surprisingly good last night, too. Obama was excellent. Perhaps not his most electrifying speech but he got the job done. Now I can't wait for the debates! Get your popcorn ready.... In Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte: Say what you will about Bill Clinton, but the man can deliver an effective speech. He did so last night. I especially liked the point that he works with Democrats, Republicans and Independents all the time and he doesn't know who's what because they focus on the issues, not the politics. What a difference that would make if it were happening in Congress today. Posted by EditorWalls Clinton is not our President. While he was willing to cross the isle and work with the Congress, Obama isn't. |

From my research I find that the Republican leaders in Congress, specifically Ryan and Cantor wont compromise, without giving the wealthy more Tax Breaks and dismantling Medicare. Obama believes we cant afford more tax breaks for those who dont even need them, if it means cutting Medicare and other safety net programs. I happen to agree, where is that shared sacrifice I heard mentioned repeatedly at the Republican National Convention. The government is supposed to work for all Americans equally, isn't that what Democracy is all about.Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte: In Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte : Clinton is not our President. Spell check: I think you mean aisle, not "isle," though he did go to the U.K. a few times. So you like Clinton?
