Huh? So you think Republicans are the protectors of Medicare? In Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte: Why is AARP supporting a cut of $716 billion from the Medicare Advantage program that seniors have paid into all their life so that those who paid little or nothing into Medicare will get health care under the Democratic Plan? In Response to Re: Democratic and GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Charlotte: Say what you will about Bill Clinton, but the man can deliver an effective speech. He did so last night. I especially liked the point that he works with Democrats, Republicans and Independents all the time and he doesn't know who's what because they focus on the issues, not the politics. What a difference that would make if it were happening in Congress today. I also appreciated Clinton's remarks about focusing on the issues, not party affiliation. That said, when Clinton explained his take on the $716 billion of Medicare "cuts," he seemed pretty focused on both the issue and the politics.Posted by EditorWalls |

I thought former President Clinton did a terrific job of responding to this in his speech last night: "Look, here’s what really happened. You be the judge. Here’s what really happened. There were no cuts to benefits at all. None. What the president did was to save money by taking the recommendations of a commission of professionals to cut unwarranted subsidies to providers and insurance companies that were not making people healthier and were not necessary to get the providers to provide the service. "And instead of raiding Medicare, he used the savings to close the doughnut hole in the Medicare drug program — and — you all got to listen carefully to this; this is really important — and to add eight years to the life of the Medicare trust fund so it is solvent till 2024. "So President Obama and the Democrats didn’t weaken Medicare; they strengthened Medicare. Now, when Congressman Ryan looked into that TV camera and attacked President Obama’s Medicare savings as, quote, the biggest, coldest power play, I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry, because that $716 billion is exactly, to the dollar, the same amount of Medicare savings that he has in his own budget. You got to get one thing — it takes some brass to attack a guy for doing what you did." Here's what I'll say about Bill Clinton: He's a class act. President Clinton hit the ball out of the park. He makes alot of sense and knows how to turn an economy around. You cant expect a billionaire like Mitt Romney, who has never had to struggle, to relate to struggling seniors, disabled and lower/middle class. Rip, Romney and Ryan are again telling a fib. The Non - Partisan Congressional Budget Office reports that Obama's plan is estimated to save $716 billion over 10 years and is not cutting $716 billion. Ryan has alot of nerve, he is the one cutting $200 billion from Medicare in his 2013 budget. So far Romney and Ryan have lied in their ads about Obama allowing people to stay on welfare, about Obama cutting $716 billion from Medicare, about Obama closing the Wisconsin GM plant. The falsehoods keep coming. Romney and Ryan have all the money in the world and dont care if they are spreading lies as long as enough people believe them. The Congressional Budget Office or Politifact are non - partisan sources and they have called Romney and Ryan's ads False. Romney and Ryan, supposed men of faith, already spreading falsehoods, God help us if they get into the Whitehouse. One of President Clinton's best remarks was the Republicans left President Obama a total mess, he didn't fix it fast enough, so fire him and put us back in office. Look at Ryans Republican Budget for 2013 and its very sinilar to President Bush's. Bad news for 98% of Americans because President Bush turned a surplus into a $10.6 trillion dollar deficit. ( source Dept of Labor ). Romney and Ryan have the same policies that got us into the recession. So the Rpeublicans want to go back to the same mistakes that got us into a recession, because why ? In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: Romney knows how to send our jobs to China and India for his own profit, now maybe he knows how to get those jobs back for our Nations profit. Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa : Posted by mandm84 The president does not worry about sending jobs overseas, he just sends the money that the citizens in this country have worked hard for. He sends billions and billions of dollars to Brazil for oil wells. He sends billions and billions of dollars to other countries for support, when it just goes to the leaders of those country to get wealthy on and the people of those countries are still starving. We cannot be the worlds policeman. We need a president that will take care of this country and not turn it over to the muslim countries, like Obama is doing. |
