In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa : Ha! I agree.... Christie's a bully who talks big and loud, but cannot speak to the fact that unemployment has risen in NJ, taxes have gone up and businesses are leaving in droves. Christie is all about Christie... by the time 2016 comes around, he will be as irrelevant as Sarah Palin. Posted by debkey Christie brags about balancing the NJ budget the last three years... yeah, by "borrowing" the money from state workers and teachers pension funds. And now he owes the state millions to pay it back. R-i-ght, like Congress paid back the Social Security Trust Fund monies they "borrowed" !! |

Totally agree! In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: I tuned into the convention last night midway into Clint Eastwood's speech (if that's what you would call it). Am I the only one who found it to be mostly incoherent and somewhat disturbing? He had a few good applause lines, I must admit, but to me he just seemed like an angry guy with impairments of some kind. All in all, I thought it was an exercise in dignity-lowering. I think Clint Eastwood's speech was something like pulling out a loaded pistol and shooting Mitt Romney in the foot. In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: What was up with Clint Eastwood last night? Didn't quite see his purpose other than to lend his star power to the event. Still scratching my head.... Posted by EditorWalls |

Holy moly. The proceedings from the podium don't begin until 5 p.m., but then it seems like the Dems will try to cram an awful lot in tonight. You can see the full list here. Some of the headliners include: * keynote speaker and San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro; * Harry Reid, Democratic Majority Leader and Member of the US Senate, Nevada; * former President Jimmy Carter by video; * Republican-cum-Democrat and Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee; * Amber Riley, singer/songwriter and 'Glee' actress * First Lady Michelle Obama. Who do you looking forward to watching? |

The modern national conventions of the major political parties generally lack the drama from back in the day. Enjoy these memorable moments from Democratic conventions past. |

It’s official – Wasserman Schultz has been busted lying about comments by Israel’s ambassador to the United States, to use him as a partisan prop. Statement from Ambassador Oren’s office, as relayed by the Weekly Standard: ”I categorically deny that I ever characterized Republican policies as harmful to Israel. Bipartisan support is a paramount national interest for Israel, and we have great friends on both sides of the aisle" And the lies will keep coming from the Democrats. |

The platform is official. That was quick. Not a whole lot about Medicare and Social Security, but here's a platform guide-at-a-glace. The New York Times says the Democratic and Republican platforms offer a "stark contrast" ... on "the future of entitlements like Medicare and Social Security." Do you agree? Me, I'd like a lot more detail. |

Last night's speakers said little about Social Security, but Medicare was more on their minds. I found Massachsetts Gov. Deval Patrick to be a very effective speaker, but I'm disappointed that he wasn't more careful with his facts. |
