In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: I think that the reps. will not mention the voucher idea now or ever until the election is over. It is a win-win for the insurance companies not for seniors. Can you see someone who is 80 years old trying to call all the insurance companies to find the best deal to use her $3,000 voucher? Many more people will go without health care and die earlier because of it. Posted by ldphotography * I really hope to reach a lot of Medicare people are this blog to vote against this Mitt and Paul Ryan because changing our Medicare to a voucher is a mistake the insurance companies will not insure anyone with medical conditons because they would cost them with medical bills. |

You're being fed the democrat lies. If you're sicker or you're poorer you will get more to pay for insurance. What Ryan's plan does is prevent all the overtesting that's done under Medicare. In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: Look all Medicare recipients we must stop the GOP with this method of trying to replace our Medicare with a voucher program. This is nothing but a trick to do away with Medicare. These GOP has been voting on doing away with Medicare since 2004 go and look up the bills since Paul Ryan was the Chief of Budget under the George Walker Bush Jr. administration. They pretend this is breaking the budget for the US but this is only to decrease the budget to provide rich, companies and corporation with permanent tax cuts. Then both Mitt Romney and Ryan Paul will do away with Medicare. I am a disable nurse and I know many insurance companies will not insure people with pre-existing medical conditions. I am on a Medical advantage programs and this is no good. Every time I have medical bills I have to appeal these bills but I am a Registrar Nurse and knows how to write these medical appeals but many elderly has no one to write these medical appeals which they will end up paying alot of out pocket for medical expense. Please read and spread the word as it is now Medicare is safe. Paul Ryan has been trying to change Medicare since 2004. I do not believe his mom is on Medicare. I bet she has private insurance.See when any one lives over 67 which they want to increase the age for retirement many people already has serious health issues which many insuranc3e companies will deny you for like, Cancer, Heart Disease, Renal or Kidney conditions, Asthma, Chronic Pulmonary Diseases, Diabetes, Hypertension, Blood Disorder and many more. How many of you have already been denied just for being over weight. See many people who are in a comatose state, has Dementia, or mental illness will not be able to make a choice and we as recipients must stand with them. If you notice both John McCain and Ex secretary of State talk about wars and this is how they will pay for these wars. Posted by johnsonld62 I agree with you that Republicans want more wars and robbing weak seniors is "excellent" source of $$$--bc the problem is our country is not rich anymore... Democrats bankrupt this country turning usa into a welfare state and helping economies in other countries while ours crumbles. but at least Obama has some charisma--Romney doesn't. And Obama at least tries to do somothing for Americans,, Romney is all about himself. They say everyone deserves the leader he/she chooses. so it's the same about the president. However, judging by what happened in Tampa I'm not sure who elects our president. it seems that will of the people doesn't mean much to party officials. |

You may well be right about never hearing the words "premium support" or "Ryan plan" or "Romeny-Ryan" plan again, at least not during this convention. Can't claim to have tuned in for every moment, but haven't heard those words from any lips, including from Ryan himself last night.Posted by ldphotography |

In Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: It's a crime that the GOP is trying to dismantle the programs that help the elderly that we have all paid for!!! I'm an independent and I will not vote for that nonesense. Posted by ertripp We've already got a "premium support" program within Medicare - It is called Medicare D or the Prescription Drug Program. I think people have to really understand any program or idea before they comment about it pro or con. Many of us will be paying more for Medicare in the very near future - Medicare B, Medicare D, more payroll taxes for Medicare A and more surcharges, copays and deductibles for beneficiaries. Seems many seniors are happy with their private insurance Medicare Advantage Plans. Private insurers are here to stay in Medicare and Medicaid. |

GailL, I'm interested in understanding the connection you see between Part D (and why not include Part B?) and the "premium support" approach as roughed out in Paul Ryan's concept?Posted by GailL1 |
