IIn Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: Georgie, Since you asked about who to believe regarding Medicare. Paul Ryan's dismantling of Medicare into a Voucher System has been called a "Death Sentence " to our seniors and disabled, especially disabled children, by Independents in Congress. Paul Ryan's wife, Janna, has been a Private Healthcare Lobbyist for two of the largest Private healthcare providers (Cigna and Blue Cross/ Blue Shield) for years and I personally find this a huge conflict of interest. The fact that the Ryan's are profiting from dismantling Medicare is unethical to me. Who's best interest are the Ryan's considering ? Cigna's Private Healthcare Co. CEO Wendell Potter, who recently retired and came clean. Mr. Potter stated that Paul Ryan's Voucher System would give millions more to Private Healthcare CEO's and cost our Seniors and Disabled thousands more for similiar care. Potter also said Ryan's plan will not keep up with inflation and seniors payments would keep going up and up.This is coming from a Private healthcare CEO, who was an insider while all these behind the door deals are being planned. If elected Romney already agreed with Ryan's plan and will not start his Presidency fighting with the Ryan's and Congressional Republican leaders Cantor and Boehner, so say goodbye to Medicare and hello to Mr. & Mrs. Ryan's Voucher Plan. I'm an Independent and when it comes to saving Medicare and Social Security, I personally believe the Democrats and Independents will preserve both programs. We all have our opinions and this is where my homework has led me. Good luck in finding the answer in your homework assignment and remember to research Non Partisan Sources( like the Congressional Budget Office ) to get the real facts. We are all in this together, regardless of your party preference.Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa : I admire your perseverance. Here's Potter's new post for the Center for Public Intergrity. It's about Doctors for America, a bipartisan grassroots organization of 15,000 physicians and medical students from all 50 states. They're in Tampa now and will travel to Charlotte to talk about the health care law -- and spread free health care along the way.Posted by mandm84 |

Just thinking about you and hoping you and yours are ok in the Louisiana Bayou. I can't imagine what you are going through and my prayers are with you, my friend. Response to Re: GOP Conventional Wisdom - What's Happening in Tampa: Just thinking we got hit with two that year. Ike and Gustav. Ike destroyed Galveston and flooded coastal Louisiana and Gustav hit us here in coastal Louisiana flooding and wind damage. Posted by kimster Wendell Potter deserves credit for telling it like it is. Thank you for that glimmer of hope. I do remembr in years gone by, if you didn't have the money to pay the doctor, he would settle for a small ,five dollar payment, or in some cases, a chicken! http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/06/25/russell-dohner-5-dollar-doctor-visit_n_1624497.html They were truly caring, and considered their patients good, not the good of their pocketbooks. And , the lawyers deserve credit, too , for driving up the costs, since everyone now must work to cover themselves, in case they get sued. But, of course, we now pay more for our medications and healthcare, since we have cover the cost of TV advertising which tells us to tell our doctor what medicines to prescribe!!! (If it weren;t true it would be funny!) As someone who contracted MRSA while in a high profit hospital, I know the system is broken. Cobra? When someone loses their job , how are they supposed to pay double the amount for insurance? That was a deal to help the insurance companies, too. The truly amazing fact is that we all have settled for a system which allows those without insurance to get free care at hospitals, and those with insurance to pay more !! If we went into a restaurant, and had to pay for someone else's bill, and ours, there would be a riot! http://www.kevinmd.com/blog/2011/03/danger-multiple-emergency-room-visits-hospitals.html And, in this age of instant communication, hospitals and doctors are not using it to benefit their patients. But, of course, they will get your insurance information first, or else!!! |

Of all the GOP congressional candidates who spoke yesterday afternoon, only one focused on Medicare. But while he called for the repeal of the health care law and said Romney and Ryan would "save Medicare from bankruptcy," he never mentioned the controversial plans put forth by the party’s top-of-the-ticket picks to remake Medicare as a premium support program. In fact there was little mention of the Medicare debate on Day 1. Is the convention steering clear of the issue or slowly teeing it up for Ryan and Romney? |
