Great article Wisemagic, its amazing how today's republicans like to applaud President Reagan's accomplishments, but seem to forget or dont want to mention his Tax rates on the rich. The republicans used to reach across the aisle to get things done in Congress for all Americans, not so much anymore.Response to How the GOP Became the Party of the Rich: The inside story of how the Republicans abandoned the poor and the middle class to pursue their relentless agenda of tax cuts for the wealthiest one percent This article is 8 pages long, but well worth taking the time to read. http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/how-the-gop-became-the-party-of-the-rich-20111109 Posted by wisemagic |

The republicans used to reach across the aisle to get things done in Congress for all Americans, not so much anymore.Response to How the GOP Became the Party of the Rich : Posted by mandm84 I was a Republican up until 2007. The Bush regime, and the constant BS from the Minister of Propaganda, Rush Limbaugh, made me realize I didn't believe in the party any longer. I had come to a point where I was embarrassed to let people know I was a Republican. So, it was time for me to part company with the party. I sought out the Libertarians and re-registered my voter status as Libertarian. I catch a lot of flack about how the Libertarian's will never win an election, and I'm ok with that. My beliefs fall inline more with the Libertarians. And maybe someday true conservatives will see what I've seen and move on too. Now days, the GOP has proven they don't believe in their own ideals either. ( That's why I tend to pick on them more than the Democrats ) Even the accomplishments of Reagan, came at a price. Reagan Tripled the National Debt, and raised the debt ceiling 17 times. And Bush, Doubled the National Debt and raised the debt ceiling 7 times. http://crooksandliars.com/jon-perr/15-things-gop-doesnt-want-you-know-about-taxes-debt#two |
