In Response to Re: Election 2012 Debate Season: As soon as I found out Paul Ryan's wife, Janna, has worked for years as a Wash. DC Lobbyist for the Private Healthcare companies that are trying to dismantle Medicare and kill Obamacare, I heard enough. The fix is in !!!n Response to Re: Election 2012 Debate Season : + XLNT POST; THANK YOU!Posted by mandm84 All voters who want to end Medicare in favor of private health insurance that will cost more for the same benefits should vote for Republicans; read below. I worked in public health care admin for 25 years. The Republicans want to gradually privatize Medicare(MC), even though the cost of the current fed MC admin is less than half compared to private health insurance. Privatization of MC would cost $BILLIONS = HIGHER COSTS FOR MC RECIPIENTS. The GOP plan starts with voluntary choice of private MC or fed MC; however, here is how their plan would bankrupt fed run Medicare, and leave no choice for all except higher cost private insurance: THE GOP PLAN FOR MEDICARE: 1. Allow seniors the option to buy private insurance with a fed voucher. 2. Do not increase the value of the voucher to keep up with health care ins cost. 3. Allow seniors to return to Medicare coverage when their private insurance cost increases due to age and illness. 4. This will allow the private ins cos to maximize profits because the seniors will return to FEDERAL Medicare during the years of most of their highest medical expenses. 5. This plan will bankrupt Medicare: private insurers get the patients when they use less care, FEDERAL Medicare gets the patients when they need the most care. 6. Private insurers will donate $MILLIONS to the GOP. Also, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office report concluded thet the GOP to repeal Obamacare would shorten the life of the Medicare fund by 8 years. GOP proposed cuts to Medicaid would kick millions of children, disabled and seniors under age 65 off Medicaid. It is your choice on November 6. |

How right you are !!! The Republican plan for healthcare is to dismantle Medicare into a death sentence for us with their vouchers. Vote Republican and kiss affordable healthcare goodbye !!! Kathryn, you're not missing much without channels like Fox, who are so biased against anything the Democrats do or say. Fox TV is a Tea Party favorite. Living in Alaska, are you in favor of more oil drilling or not ? I live in New York and I personally think you folks living in Alaska should be the ones to decide if we drill more or not, since its in your back yard and oh what a beautiful big back yard !! I still remember what the Exxon Valdez oil spill did to you guys. I hope you recovered and God Bless you folks up north too.Response to Re: Election 2012 Debate Season: The Republicans used to be a reasonable party, but with the advent of the Tea Party, it's lost its collective minds. I vote by absentee ballot and I do hope I voted for the right person. Frankly, neither party has the right candidate. To presrve my right to vote, I decided on the lesser of evils. Sad sad sad. I live on an island in Alaska and I don't have tv, but you can be sure, I will be glued to NPR /PBS radio as the votes are counted and I want to hear the commentary. I do wish I could see the whole thing however. God ; Please Bless us ALL. We sure need it. Kathryn

I was thinking on the environmental impact side, since they have to live with it. It's not always about money. That seems to weigh heavily in some regards and not in others. |

Mother nature can only take so much and we must respect her. What is more important ? When I was a child, 50 years ago, I remember my science teacher talking about pollution and alternative energy and here we are still reliant on oil, mostly foreign. It's amazing how the billions of dollars big oil has spent in Wash. D.C. to influence our politicians has minimized Mother Nature's call. I'm proud of President Obama and those few in government, who respect Mother Nature and want to explore alternative energy. I realize the initial cost for change , but what will the eventual cost be to Mother Nature, if we dont ?Response to Re: Election 2012 Debate Season: In Response to Re: Election 2012 Debate Season : Sometimes an area relies on an industry so much for its existence that without it, the community withers and dies.
