I've got to book mark that one for a slow digest later.  I saw him interviewed yesterday, I think on CNN.
I live in a watershed area where everybody has to have acreage and there is no commercial development but I am only about 30 miles away from a thriving metropolis that would like to bring us all under its wing - we already have a REGIONAL pseudo-government entity.

Big cities need money for rapid transit because it does not earn enough on its own to be self supporting.
Big cities want a larger tax base because it is their heavily used water, sewer, roads, bridges infrastructure that needs repair.
Big cities need additional water sources
Big cities need more parks, playgrounds for people to recreate.

You think they are gonna slurp us up and spit us out?

If you want an example of where that's being done just look at NYC. I live in an outer boro and own a home. I pay both city income tax along with property tax. While the state caps property tax at 2%, it's capped at 6.5% in the city. Our bridges and tunnels have tolls that are about 3 times the cost to run them, so that they can be used to subsidize mass transit. All this goes to pay for people in public housing, that pay virtually nothing to live in their housing units. BTW, I did hear about that article. Just more of obama's socialist policy.
