How right you are my friend, but the Republican Assault is waged on 99% of our Americans. Todays Republican leadership has gone out of their way to make life as sweet as possible for the top 1% for more than 11 years. President Bush promised more jobs and a lift in our economy with his tax cuts for corporations and the wealthiest. We have waited over 11 years for that to happen. Where are the jobs and economy lift ? The corporations, like Romney's Bain Capital, have hoarded that money from those tax cuts and sent more American jobs overseas to profit even more. They have added $5-6 trillion to our deficit from the combined cost of the Iraq War and the lost tax revenues from Bush's Tax Cuts. The Republican leadership wants our seniors, disabled, lower and middle class to sacrifice more to reduce the deficit caused by the Iraq War and Bush tax cuts. Instead of demanding that the Corporations and wealthiest Americans pitch in , they take it out on our seniors and disabled. No Compassion or fairness The Republicans WILL cut billions in benefits from our Medicare and Social Security. They expect those already struggling to do with less, while the top 1% get more tax breaks and loopholes. Enough is enough. The Republicans have lost the meaning of Democracy and to think I was pro republican during the Reagan years. This is not the same Republican Party that President Ronald Reagan led. Today's Republican leadership is all about the Rich Getting Richer and turning their backs on those Americans who worked hard to make it happen. The 99% of us may not have the $$$ money that the Tea Party and billionaires have to influence the Republican leadership , but what we do have is something more valuable. We have strength in numbers. This Republican leadership thinks that we dont matter and that we have to sit on the sidelines and watch the insanely rich corrupt our democracy, but there is enough caring Americans to make a change on election day. Let the strength of our vote, not our wallet matter and remove this greed motivated Republican leadership from office. I know there are some compassionate Republicans in Congress with common sense to stop this Right Wing Madness, but why don't they stand up for ALL Americans and see their struggles. Is it because Republican leaders like John Boehner, Paul Ryan and Eric Cantor are such bullies with millions of corporate money behind them, that the other Republicans just sit on the sidelines and go for the ride ??? I dont get it, we are all Americans and should have each others backs. True Democracy means social and political equality for ALL AMERICANS, not just the rich ones. Who do you think cares more about our struggling seniors and disabled ? President Obama or Corporate Billionaire Tycoon Romney. n Response to Assult on America: Assault on America There is an assault on America going on against the American people and it’s not by outside forces but within our own political system the Republican Party. Their aim is to enrich themselves by catering to the wealthy. Their power comes from deceit and spreading hatred of other Americans. But their only aim is for money and power. They could care less of the welfare of the ordinary citizen that has made this country great. They forget that it was this country and its people that made others rich. The rich had a dream of riches; it was this country and its people who made it a reality, it was these people and this country that held their hand when they were beginning to walk in the business world. These politicians forget the sacrifices of their forefathers and senior citizens who toiled and bled to give them the freedom they now are planning to take away from these very people. There is no such thing as a self-made man in this country. Everyone who is fortunate or lucky enough to be wealthy owes it to this country and its people. And yet when the going gets rough instead of being grateful, the first Republican targets are these very people to whom they owe so much. They hold disdain for the homeless, not knowing if that person is a veteran with serious problems or someone who has had problems beyond his or her control. They hold contempt for the poor who are easy to blame for their own financial irresponsibility. They look down on the disabled and consider their condition as a weakness that will eventually weaken this country. They will destroy the institutions that has made America the greatest country in the world and that is Social Security and Medicare which was conceived during a much greater depression than now to ensure that people who made this country as great as it is would be taken care of when it was time for them to turn over their responsibilities to a younger generation and enjoy the years they have left in this country and this earth. These institutions were never meant for an insurance company to make a profit off of. Our seniors are owed that much. The homeless should not be forgotten people but understood and an effort made to put their lives back together again. One of the greatest enemies of the poor is illiteracy and yet these politicians have no consideration for educating our young which everyone who is educated is an investment to our country. These politicians divide our country by using the media outlets against these people spawning seeds of hatred using neighbor against neighbor by stomping on women’s rights, rather than trying to understand. They speak of how wrong homosexuals are and boast their rightness when many have in question their own sexuality and moralities. All of this hatred is in the name of God of course. These politicians allow their position to be influenced by lobbyist that are hired by insurance companies, banks and Big Oil to bribe them to pass legislation to the corporation’s best interest, with little thought for our environment or ordinary people’s lives. They allow these corporations tax breaks, outsource jobs overseas, and hide money in foreign countries with little regard for their own country. But they spawn seeds of hatred against their people who built this country to the greatest in the world, who pay taxes that have supported this country up to now, who can’t afford lobbyist for their best interest. Republicans derive their power from the arrogance of people like them, they are bullies who pick on the weak and cower from the strong. They think they are better and look down on other citizens of this great country which could be poor, homeless or of different race. They hate immigrants which many are sons and daughters of immigrants themselves. They speak of building needless and expensive walls on our borders to keep illegal immigrants out when in reality illegal immigrants are beginning to migrate out of here with farmers not planting as much because of no labor to harvest their crops. The Soviet Union used a wall in Berlin which never worked; the Chinese did the same in ancient times that didn’t work, what makes these Republicans think their wall will? A scholar once said “if you don’t learn from history you are doomed to repeat it” this Republican wall sounds like another one of those historical repetitions. Republicans claim to be pro-gun, anti-abortion, and anti-gay. But say so because it doesn’t cost them and their rich friends any money and they get votes from the little people, otherwise they don’t really care one way or another.

There is an assault on America. It's by "progressives". Ultraleft wing extremists have taken over the democrat party. It is no longer the democrat party, but rather a coalition of socialists, anarchists and conservationists. There aim is to collapse our system, take away our freedoms and substitute a syastem in which the government has complete and utter control over our lives. Making citizens dependent upon the government for jobs, food, housing and education is their means of doing this. Once people are ensnared by this they will find it difficult to give up the free lunch. The question we must ask is Do we want to continue as a free republic in which we each determine our own destinies or do we want to have the government make all our decisions for us? Yes mandm84, these new type of Republican bullies see the 99% as weak and disorganized and easy to pick on. Just like school yard bullies. They figure we will stay quiet and let their Assault continue to destroy this nation and it's people as we know it. They devise new voting regulations to discourage the poor and disabled from voting. They will go to any extreme to protect their piggy banks (the rich). But they are also cowards who scare real easy when we the 99% will say Enough is Enough. Sounds like a good question to ask Paul Ryan and Mitt Rommey who plan to take away the freedom of the poor, disabled and elderly, but give more freedom to the 1% who keep their rice bowl full. If they are not careful there is a little thing going on in France right now could very well happen here if they keep their bully tactics up. Just who are these one percenters? Would it be safe to assume they would include most of Hollywood, such as Roger Moore (whose never opened his compound to the OWS crowd). Also George Soros, Nancy Pelosi (who took advantage of insider trading, which was illegal for everyone else), many propfessional athletes. Are there good one percenters and bad one percenters? You realize that this 1% vs the 99% is an artificial creation. It should be more like the 53% that pay or paid taxes before they retired vs the 47% that never did. I guess I'm part of the 53% because I've always paid taxes and continue to pay taxes even though I'm retired and living on Social Security and a pension (that's not indexed for inflation). The Democratic wealthy and Hollywood Elite, as you have called them in the past, are willing to pay their fair share of taxes. More money and Greed is not their motivation for supporting President Obama, no their agenda is much different than the wealthiest Republican donors. Warren Buffet, Julia Robert's, Leonardo DiCaprio, President Obama and many other well off Democrats are not looking for MORE TAX BREAKS , but instead want social and political equality for all , something called Democracy . They realize that everyone in this country helped them make it big and they could'nt have done it without us common folk. They want to pay society back for their good fortune, unlike the wealthiest Republican donors like Sheldon Adelson, Karl Rove, Tea Party, etc., who are so afraid their taxes may come back up to reason and loopholes may be eliminated. No my friend there is a much different agenda between most wealthy Democratic and Republican donors. n Response to Re: Assult on America: Just who are these one percenters? Response to Assult on America : Posted by Labrat64 the top 1% in America own 37% of all the wealth.
That the top 1% enjoy more than 20% of all the income. So – who made it this way? The nurses, fast-food workers, teachers, cashiers, police officers and secretaries? Or the 1 percent at the top? Today, 15% of the USA -- nearly one in seven Americans -- are considered poor, the highest rate of poverty since 1993. Now among the poor are the college-educated, the former middle-class worker, the suburbanite and the homeowner. They've been hit by layoffs, cuts in work hours, health problems and other crises. They've gone through savings and 401(k)s. They live off food stamps or other government benefits and rely on help from family members and friends. IF Obama isn't re-elected and one of the GOP gets into the White House, we had better PRAY loudly that the Congress isn't lost to the Republicans. Otherwise, this country is going to be in a deep depression within a matter of a year or 18 months after the GOP--- takes over the government. NEVER FORGET THE EIGHT YEARS under the GOP WHEN WE ALL FELL THROUGH THE FLOOR
