Affordable health care

I just read an article in my local newspaper that really steamed me!!  Florida Governor Rick Scott, a multimillionaire, has enrolled in the taxpayer subsidized health insurance plan offered by the state of Florida.  This is a man that is a huge critic of the federal health care overhaul and he is paying less than $400 a year for health insurance for himself and his wife.  This "perk" is available to high-ranking state officials, including those in top management at all state agencies.  Nearly all 160 state legislators are also enrolled in the program that costs just $8.34 a month for individual coverage and $30 a month for family coverage. Florida has one of the highest uninsured rates in the nation according to data released last year by the U. S. Census but it is one of more than 20 states suing to have the health care overhaul decared unconstitutional.

I am a single woman lucky enough to have a job that offers health care.  However, this health care costs me almost $2000 per year and has a $6000 deductable.  I don't use my prescription plan with my health insurance because Walgreens offers a better club plan as long as you are not on Medicare or with any other public agency.  I am approaching age 65 and from everything I have been able to find out I don't know if I am going to be able to afford Medicare when the time comes.

I know of other folks in worse situations that have no health care because they cannot afford it!

Governor Scott and our other legislators should be ashamed of themselves.

I am also disillusioned by our healthcare system and the ones who are well-off like the Gov Scott don't care about anyone else.
What is just as bad as the medical---is  dental.    Dental insurance is nearly useless.     Just recently I read  a 24 yr old young man died in the ER  because he couldn't afford to see a dentist about a infected wisdom tooth and the infection went to his brain.   Dental problems affect overall health.
It must be wonderful to live in one of those countries where everyone is going to have medical/dental care no matter if they are rich or poor.

That is why UHC or SP/UHC is necessary. Total healthcare costs drop about 50% (or more). Suddenly, it IS affordable. Guess what conservatives do NOT want--and why?
