AARP runs businesses, and I do not think the senior is always the best served. I know there is a competing organization that takes a more conservative stance then AARP. Some have charged there is a conflict of interest because of sources of iits income which is not just membership dues. The dues are supposedly less of its income. |

Now how can any advocacy group even be one......if they stand in the middle on issues. They have to make a logical approach and if that happens to be democratic in nature then that's the way the ball bounces. THe GOP supports the policies In order for the elite to live at the standard it does , so it means the majority have to go without... and this is one of the major (if not the major) causes of world poverty, |

Senior issues, especially right now in the monetary sense, affects each American in their lives - those alive now and those yet to be born. Action taken outside of the select group also affects the select group, i.e. the SS "payroll tax" reduction. You look at this from the standpoint of the elite (?) taking from the "majority" - so the "majority have to go without" (your words, not mine. I look at it more from the standpoint that each of us has the ability to succeed in life and take care of themselves, with some social safety net for those (few) that actually cannot do this or to get them through a periodic rough time. As I have said before - I was born dirt poor with handicapped parents - deaf, uneducated. Thank goodness I learned how to change my life and have been all the better for it. I am grateful to be an American where this can happen - This country gave me (and everybody) stepping stones to where I am today. I just wish more people would/could understand how this can happen on a personal level. |

Don't try to blanket GOP into favoring the rich and not caring about the other 99%. Being conservative in financial matters and realizing debt is a slavemaster does not make one illogical. The major cause of US poverty is lack of personal responsiblity, lack of vision, and learned dependency. World poverty has nothing to do with the GOP. Your logic escapes me. To the REAL subject of this discussion: I feel AARP leans very far toward democrats. I did not understand their stand for the healthcare reform fiasco. Sometimes I think "What, I thought they exist to advocate for seniors." In Response to Re: What is AARP Political Bias?: I think AARP supports Democratic establishment. Posted by Astra2012 If AARP supports the Democratic establishment then why can't we get a decent quote as seniors for our auto thru the Hartford that they advertise ? They are as high or higher than other corporate insurers. To me, AARP has become corporate-minded especially after supporting that Part D section of Medicare that gave a boot in the rear to seniors and the pharmas billions of dollars......that was NOT democratic in nature. |
