Ivon Response to AARP opposed to Voter ID requirement?: [QUOTE]At least in Minnesota, this is so. How is this possible? How does AARP disobey the vast majority of its members? Where does a member go to register his disgust with the policy and to have his opinion heard. The vast majority of seniors support voter ID requirements, and the argument that there are a few elderly and a few disabled whose voices will not be heard is a garbage argument. There are an awful lot of illegals, dead people, and other miscreants voting (mostly for the left) and they outnumber those who would be disenfranchised by having to produce an ID by a vast majority. It is a death sentence to our republic to have votes cast fraudulently and in pursuit of unfair and illegal advantage to and by those who have not earned the right to vote. The organization needs to reverse itself and support Voter ID requirements with diligence and with very emphatic support. The League of Women Voters are both republicans & democrats --- BUT in several states are objecting to this law as it risks disenfranchising millions of eligible voters. This voter ID requirements comes from predominantly Republican controlled states, and this type of legislation is discriminatory and very wrong.
Most of the people who won't have a picture ID are poor and therefore this is political posturing from the Right to try and "steal" elections by exclusion. This kinda reminds me of a notice from my bank that I got yesterday that if I don't keep $1500 a month in my checking account then I'll be charged $5 a month for my account......which means the poor people get socked in the pockets because they are poor. Is this a great country or what.

In Response to Re: AARP opposed to Voter ID requirement?: Your response is completely wrong-headed. If we are required to present ID to bank, to drive, to do anything that requires us to prove we are citizens and live where we say, how is it possible that the "one man, one vote" rule, which, btw, also requires a voter to be a citizen, requires nothing????? The few shut ins who might be disenfranchised are far outnumbered by the illegals, those convicted of crimes who have lost their rights, and those casting multiple votes for political purposes. Therefore we would certainly get a much more accurate representation of what the citizens of this country actually want, and who they want as their leadership. Your bank comparison is pathetic - find a different one, Posted by richferg The pathetic comment as you called it does show how some people always get it in the pocketbook....and what bully-right have you got to tell me " I need to find a different one ". I'm not your poor wife. There is a 90+ year old fella that fought in WW1 that can't vote ...was in the news and there are many like him....people who don't drive a car... but have paid taxes and fought in wars and are BLACK AND YELLOW as well as white. There are about a dozen states that have this NEW stupid voting rule now so they can eliminate people from voting. Republicans don't really want everyone to vote.....it's not in their best interest and why they fought so hard to get rid of groups that try to get voters to the polls. This country is run by a bunch of thugs that used to be the GOP. |

Your bank comparison is pathetic - find a different one, Posted by richferg Imagine this: a Republican governor in a crucial battleground state instructs his secretary of state to purge the voting rolls of hundreds of thousands of allegedly ineligible voters . The move disenfranchises thousands of legally registered voters, who happen to be overwhelmingly black and Hispanic Democrats. The number of voters prevented from casting a ballot exceeds the margin of victory in the razor-thin election, which ends up determining the next President of the United States. If this scenario sounds familiar, that’s because it happened in Florida in 2000. And twelve years later, just months before another presidential election, history is repeating itself in many more states. The GOP have turned into a group run by thugs.
