If you paid into the system you are "entitled" to receive benefits from it. I paid into the system for 45 years. I'm finally reaping the benefits. Response to 40 years of PREPAID Medicare payroll tax deductions are not ENTITLEMENTS: 40 years of PREPAID Medicare payfoll tax deductions are not entitlements. Posted by KJVKARBEAR |

Posted by KJVKARBEAR If the USA can spend money on giving aid to China and many otherse..... and we can spend money on wars....we can spend money on our own people in regards to something like healthcare. What I didn't know til I read the following. To satisfy the original plan's opponents, Part B was made optional. It was not to be funded from payroll taxes like Part A, but would require beneficiaries to pay a monthly premium. The beneficiary premium was intended to cover 50% of the plan's costs, with the remaining 50% coming from the general fund of the federal government. (Although later legislation changed that ratio to 25% from premiums and 75% from the general fund.)

In Response to Re: 40 years of PREPAID Medicare payroll tax deductions are not ENTITLEMENTS: Medicare and SS are entitlements, Medicaid, SSI, and subsidized health care are not. Response to Re: 40 years of PREPAID Medicare payroll tax deductions are not ENTITLEMENTS : Posted by Labrat64 Sorry to have to correct you - An "Entitlement" (from Wikipedia): " An entitlement is a guarantee of access to benefits based on established rights or by legislation. A "right" is itself an entitlement associated with a moral or social principle, such that an "entitlement" is a provision made in accordance with legal framework of a society. Typically, entitlements are laws based on concepts of principle ("rights") which are themselves based in concepts of social equality or enfranchisement." Glossary of Political Economy Terms: ENTITLEMENT Program: "The kind of government program that provides individuals with personal financial benefits (or sometimes special government-provided goods or services) to which an indefinite (but usually rather large) number of potential beneficiaries have a legal right (enforceable in court, if necessary) whenever they meet eligibility conditions that are specified by the standing law that authorizes the program. The beneficiaries of entitlement programs are normally individual citizens or residents, but sometimes organizations such as business corporations, local governments, or even political parties may have similar special "entitlements" under certain programs. The most important examples of entitlement programs at the federal level in the United States would include Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid, most Veterans' Administration programs, federal employee and military retirement plans, unemployment compensation, food stamps, and agricultural price support programs. " From our government: Government Benefits, Grants and Financial Aid. |
