I retired early at age 59 1/2, and unfortunately hadn't researched where to put my retirement savings. I like the g uaranteed income of annunities but there are so many! Any advise... anyone?

Congratulations! You will now have several new adjustments. The adjustment are difficult to predict. One will be, 'what will i do with my goals? Do I have new goals?

Just a few thoughts about your retirement savings. You are younger than most retirees and your money will need to last a bit longer. Annuities tie your money up and what seems like a decent income now will not be too attractive in 25 or 30 years. You need to have a hedge against inflation and some liquidity should you have a sudden emergency. There a many different annuities, so check them out carefully as many have high fees. I would suggest keeping money in a balanced mutual fund. Historically, these have held value over the long run.
As far as things to do, you will figure this out as you go. Keeping busy is a good idea. There are lots of volunteer opportunities and travel is always nice. Look into your community centers, many of these have activites that may interest you. Our community center has a fitness center and if you are not keeping fit, this is a good idea and you can meet new friends as well.

I recently retired, my mother passed away, and my fiance (22 years together) and I split up all within a period of 6 months.  Talk about transitions!  Right now taking one day at a time but sometimes it doesn't work and these things weigh heavy.  Any ideas on coping....I'm wondering what now?
