Divorce is tougher than anyone knows , until they go through it. It is much tougher when we are older, because it is part of our identity!
But, here is the good news! You are not that old!! You have lots of years left to enjoy your OWN life, your OWN friends, your OWN activities, and your OWN peace! It takes time, and it means you have to deal with the anger, the emotional roller coaster of divorce, and the courts who exacerbate it ( the lawyers get more money if they do that, you know).
You will find new life after divorce, and you will feel freer than you have in years. You are the person in charge of your future, and you can start now thinking about what you really want it to be like!
Is it tough? There are no words to describe how tough it is. The only thing that may come close is a scientist who works for years on an experiment, only to have it fail, miserably and finally. But, she lives to try again!
But, even that doesn't come close to caring for someone for years to find they do not care for you anymore.
You will come out of this ahead. You will see that the short term pleasures do not last, and that you now have a bright future!
We do have a group called Late Life Divorce , where you will find others talking about their own journey .
