National Do Not Call Registry

https://www.donotcall.gov/

Scammers have been making phone calls claiming to represent the National Do Not Call Registry. The calls claim to provide an opportunity to sign up for the Registry. These calls are not coming from the Registry or the Federal Trade Commission, and you should not respond to these calls. To add your number to the Registry you can call 888-382-1222 from the phone you wish to register, or go click on “Register a Phone Number” in the left column of this page.

Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm.

I am sick of callers with a fictitious phone number.  I won't answer and then I'll try to call that number and am told that the number I dialed is not a correct number.  Plus I have been getting a call that comes in as "PRIVATE" and when I pick up no one is there.  I get these type of harrassing calls three times a day everyday, for months now and the phone company's suggestion was to change my phone number.  Like that will help anything- PLUS I agree the DNC list either does not work or the companies know that nothing can really happen to them because I renew my number on this list every year and call keep coming in; plus if I do not want to be bothered by charities, they should not be exempt.  I have rights also. I am sick to death of charities.  I support 6 charities and even they get on my nerves.  They used to ask for money once a month, now it's two to four times a mon th.  I'm sick of all of them.
How do I stop "PRIVATE" calls from reaching me?
