I signed up with the  AARP Hartford Auto Insurance several years ago.  My health has gone down and  my old truck finally gave out beyond repair and had to be taken to the junk yard.  I am now ferried around by my family and have no plans to buy any more vehicles so i alled in to cancel the insurance.  the first thing the young lady on the phone tried to do  was to get me to buy comprehensive coverage for a vehicle in storage- i only had liability on the old thing and since when was a junk yard "storage"?  when i refused she began a series of bullying tactics, telling me how they were going to inform the state who would in turn send me a fine in the mail and how much trouble i would be in for canceling.  Of course i am only 61, incompetent of making my own choices about my own money and considering that i really didn't have to  tell them why i no longer needed the insurance in the first place it became absurd quickly.

I asked to speak to her supervisor, who in turn  continued the barrage of harrasment, refusing to cancel the policy. It took almost 2 hours to convince them to email me the letter she was presumably mailing out.  This was over a week ago and i never got her letter.

I can't believe the gall of some people.  Not only did they violate my right to decide how to govern my own money and run my own affairs, but I am a heart patient and  shouldn't have been subjected to such a stressful event.  I would greatly advise against going with this company for auto insurance, and besides i did find cheaper companies out there.

My main reason for  being against this company is the harrassment i recieved when canceling.

Thank you so very much for  helping me.  I got a phone call today from a Hartford representative apologizing and telling me he was going to listen to the phone call and make sure no one else has such a harrowing experience.  I can't thank you enough. It makes me feel good that there is actually a place i can complain when treated badly and someone  makes stuff better.  Much appreciated.
