I am glad you survived the experience !  911 and threats are also talked about in another post.  I will try to find it and bring that information here for those who wish to know more about such scams.

I am sorry it took me so long to post again.  I cannot find the extra information yet.  I believe it was in a .PDF link from San Diego or from Phoenix.

It basically talked about the 911 scam in more detail.  It talked about scammers calling people and threatening them with calling 911 or the local police if the victim will not pay money on some debt.

Sometimes the scammers spoof, or fake, their Caller ID information to look like they are the local police when the victim reads the Caller ID.

Sometimes the scammer carries out the threat and actually calls the Police or 911 with the Caller ID faked and set to look like the victim is doing the calling.  If the scammer calls several times with the fake Caller ID, then the Police and 911 will send someone to the victim's house.

If the scammer succeeds in getting the Police to come to the house of the victim, then that is supposed to scare the victim into believing that the scam is real and that an arrest warrant will be served.

The reality is that the victim can explain to responding officers about the threatening calls and that the victim did not call 911 or Police at this time.

The Police have made efforts in the past to investigate such events and publicize them to the public.  Such scam calls tie up valuable resources and create delays in response times to actual emergencies, so law enforcement tries to identify and prosecute such scammers who use threats and call Police or 911.
