 Correction on that one Jeff!
Human hair is one on the least compostable materials out there.  It just doesn't break down. Human hair has been found on century old mummies plus I have used it in composting and then find years later that I am crawling around in hair while I'm weeding. YUK!!
I should know about the decomposition of hair..I've worked with it for 50+ years and not on my own.  I'm a stylist who has brought home the clippings to keep rabbits away,(doesn't work, they just kick it away) and as a composting material(doesn't work either).
The banana thing does work for shinning shoes though.
